blues ultimate self care routine (shower routines, fragrance layering, more!)

hiii!!!

today i will be showing you EVERYTHING i do for self upkeep and care

lets get right into it!

pre-shower routine

1. lymphatic debloat massage in bed. you can find lots of these online. they help with bloating and its also just really nice to do a little massage before you wake up. it helps me wake up and feel good in my body immediately

2. dry brush. i dont reallyyyyy believe dry brushing helps that much with lymphatic flow but it is a good exfoliating technique and it feels nice

only do this 2-3 times a week


in shower routine

in bold are my steps and in purple are the products i use

1. shampoo first! remember to only shampoo your roots and really get in there and scrub #exfoliate

tresemme volume shampoo. i love it, it makes my THIN ass hair look a little bit less thin ass

then rinse...

2. put in yo conditioner but DONT RINSE yet. let it sit and keep your hair out of the water

3. wash your face for 45-60 seconds but make sure to use a sensitive skin version for washing that amount of time because i tried regular and it made my face HURT

4. suga scrub. you can use those little exfoliating gloves but i dont cuz i dont have any... i want to get one though

only do this 2-3 times a week

5. shave pits. i wouldnt usually do this but i started recently just to minimize odor as much as possible during Sweat Season. for some people though, shaving makes odor worse, so this might not work for everyone!

only do this every other day

5. rinse conditioner. you want to rinse before you wash your body because if you rinse after, the residue will stay on your skin and cause bacne!

6. cleanse with a bar soap and an african net sponge. african net sponges are trending for a REASONNN. they dont harbor bacteria like loofahs and they stretch and squish so you can get every inch of your body. i also use dial gold bar which is an antibacterial so if you have dry skin i wouldnt recommend it

make sure to get in EVERY. CREVICE. behind the ears, between the toes, belly button, butt crack. EVERYWHERE

7. wash down there. use a SENSITIVE skin bar and only wash the parts where hair grows. then rinse the other bits with warm water

8. double cleanse with a moisturizing body wash of your choice fragrance. this is basically just remoisturizing and perfuming your skin, and doing just a little more cleansing for good measure

some bullshit from tj maxx idk. the product you use here isnt really important

9. get out of the shower!


post-shower routine

1. pat dry body and hair with towel

2. blow dry bangs on medium heat

3. blow dry on LOW HEAT down there. this sounds insane but i SWEAR. damp environments are where odor is born, and odor loves to be born in your bits. if you dry before putting on your wee little pantaloons, you avoid marinating and therefore avoid smell

4. moisturize with lotion of your choice fragrance

eos vanilla cashmere lotion because im basic babe

5. moisturize 2.0 with body oil of a fragrance that compliments the lotion

palmers moisturizes softens body oil but i want a new one because it smells kinda weird

6. moisturize 3.0 with a shimmer body oil. this is a completely unnecessary step that i do because i want to shimmer but this body oil actually isnt all that moisturizing so i need a separate one. i need to just put glitter in the palmers i think

7. put witch hazel or glycolic acid on spots that get smelly. these are known to neutralize odor. im experimenting with both of these right now to see which works best for me. its different for everyone! (update: glycolic acid works best for me as a deodorant but i use witch hazel as a toner!)

8. put on deodorant. the products above might completely neutralize your odor, but they also might just help. they might not even help at all. again, its different for everyone, but you should use deodorant on top of them just to make SURE youre not smelling

i dont know im looking for a new one... no deodorant has worked perfectly for me

9. put on dusting powder. i dont actually do this yet but im about to start... dusting powder is basically just perfume in powder form. plus, it helps lock in deodorant and moisturizers like how setting powder locks in makeup! 

you can make this yourself by putting cotton rounds with perfume oil or high concentration perfume of your choice fragrance in a jar of cornstarch based baby powder, shaking it, and letting it sit for a while. apply with powder puff and wipe off excess with fluffy brush

10. put on perfume. the dusting powder will help your perfume stick. if you want it to stick extra extra, put vaseline or aquaphor on the places you put perfume

i own too much perfume. my favorite neutral inoffensive please-all scent is nemat vanilla musk, but my signature scent is origen sahara mystery oud

11. put glycolic acid and vaseline on feet. this keeps your feet soft and helps with peeling!



then i start my

facial skincare routine

1. witch hazel or glycolic acid toner

thayers unscented witch hazel toner, the ordinary glycolic acid toner

2. gua sha before the toner dries

only do this 2-3 times a week

3. moisturize

cera ve moisturizer

4. spot treat with acne treatment if breaking out

adapalene gel. i literally swear by this stuff for acne. it gets it GONE

5. shave half of eyebrows off lmao

6. apply sunscreen!


oral care routine

1. mouthwash. use mouthwash before brushing your teeth because youre NOT supposed to rinse toothpaste off of your teeth after you brush

therabreath but i dont remember what kind

2. floss. i do nottttt do this as often as i should

3. brush teeth. remember not to rinse with water after!!! you can spit tho

colgate optic white

4. scrape tongue. this makes your breath SO MUCH better

only do this once a day or every other day. if you do it too much, you could damage your tongue

5. exfoliate lips with lip scrub

only do this 2-3 times a week

dr pawpaw lip scrub and balm duo OR elf brown sugar lip exfoliator


how to layer fragrance

no product names here cuz i already listed them above

1. lotion

2. body oil

3. deodorant

4. dusting powder

5. vaseline on perfume spots

5. perfume where you put the vaseline

6. body spray



nutrition tips and vitamins

the only things listed here are things i have something to say about. it kind of makes it look like i dont eat dinner but i swear i do i just didnt have anything interesting to say about it

breakfast: i usually eat a little something before i do my morning routine just to get an energy boost and then i eat my full breakfast (usually a piece of fruit, a glass of milk, and two pieces of toast. a fried egg if im feeling feisty)

i eat my full breakfast after my morning routine because eating before you brush can be harmful since the food interacts with the bacteria that collects in your mouth at night, but my routine takes hella long so i eat a small thing before

lunch: lunch is lunch likeeeee. ok my favorite easy lunches are minestrone soup, lentil soup, teppenyaki fried rice, and avocado toast

i drink water or my wellness refresher (recipe in drinks blog!) SPECIFICALLY with lunch for #hydration. i used to drink dr peppy but im trying to cut down on sugar a little bit

post workout: i mix two scoops of chocolate protein powder with a big glass of #milk and then i #drinkit. it tastes like shit but i need the protein

vitamins: i take a multivitamin and omega 3s every day, and an iron supplement every other day



sleep

i use these products to help my sleep

  • scentsy lavender room spray
  • lavender essential oil on wrists and neck
  • dr teals lavender pillow spray
  • dr teals lavender magnesium spray
  • olly sleep melatonin gummies



above all, make sure youre taking care of your brain!!! read books, do puzzles, and stay off your phone (unless youre reading my blog posts on it)
