Wasn't going to include this chapter originally, but ended up remembering one more show to fill the space. Hence, another entry into the series of lesser known/old animated shows I enjoyed as a kid which have largely been lost to the sands of time. This week, we have Spanish animation!
Pocoyo (2005; Spain)
An adventurous toddler in an endless playground world, a stressed out pink elephant parental figure, and a strange duck. Very much a show for kids to learn vocabulary, but the animation and expressive delivery are genuinely hilarious at times!
Fixi & Foxy (Spain & Germany)
Two in one special offer, this show had a unique gimmick of having episodes in-between episodes with alternating casts, with both sides canonically watching each other on TV. One side focused on low fantasy adventures of the titular twins, the other side on a chaotic family with an unusual rodent pet.
Danny & Daddy (2006; Spain & US)
Essentially not different from Sesame Street's oatmeal art, but it's also one of the cartoon worlds which I wistfully wanted to visit one day, charmed by the speck of scenery shown. Small town colourful houses with whimsically shaped windows and doorways and the everpresent sun. Looking back, it matches the vibes of Littlest Pet Shop and Bratz Fashion Pixiez architecture.
Have you watched/heard of any of these gems? Do you treasure any other Spanish/adjacent cartoons from your childhood?
