random old(ish) animes i've watched

Ever since crunchyroll nuked all the pirating sites, i've been asking around my friends if they had any they used. One person sent me to this slightly dated looking site that had a bunch of shows i'd never heard of so i'm gonna talk abt 2 of them.(ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

The first one I found by accident by looking up Perfect Blue(which they didnt have), and it looked like a pretty normal shoujo ova, so i started watching. The ova was called Refrain Blue for reference.  It was kind of rlly not that great. This premise is passable but the way they executed it was just... rlly uncomfortable.

Basically the plot is that the main character is chaperoning a school trip, and they happen to be at this beach that's tied to painful memories of someone he lost long ago. Multiple characters actually have a similar experience with this place. A few of them, most notably the main guy, are visited by this girl who's been waiting at the beach for somebody for a long time, and she might be a ghost, but I didn't finish watching and I'll explain why.

Despite this show being very sentimental and sweet at the core of its themes, there was SO MUCH egregious fanservice that i literally couldn't watch it anymore. And I don't mean just sometimes there being a beach or a bath house scene- i mean EVERY. OTHER. PANEL. there's NO reason for the uncomfortable extensive shower scenes with FULL fcking nudity that happen MULTIPLE times in the three episode runtime ಠ_ಠ

Not to mention the weird love triangle thing between the chaperone, the main girl, and this random boy in her class. 3/10 very uncomfortable and would not watch again.

I haven't finished it, but I'm a few episodes in, and tho it's... questionable sometimes, I do like the main characters and the premise alot! (it also only had the dub available which makes it even funnier imo cuz the characters will speak in English using honorifics and random Japanese words)

It's called I My Me! Strawberry Eggs, and it's starts with the landlady of the Gochisou house collecting rent, and when she gets to the main character, he can't pay since he just graduated teachers college, and is unemployed. To pay his rent, he has to get a job, so he tries to become a teacher at the local junior high. But he's turned away, because despite being a co-ed school, they don't employ any male teachers bc the principal is sexist(the faculty is a lot like the all-girls school in ohshc) So to bypass this, the landlady helps him cross-dress to get the job so she can get her rent money - and that's where i'm stopping cuz i dont wanna spoil the rest of it(not rlly much to spoil cuz it's a very typical slice of life anime) 

It's rlly cliche, but that's kinda why I like it I guess? it reminds of dubbed anime I used to watch when I was younger.

so far 6/10 - some weird stuff but not unwatchable
