Could definitely see you through your writing.
we get it now, it's a dissertation on 'An American Lyric'...was confused on what you were talking about before.
it's interesting to see people from different demographics/ages being exposed to and understanding police brutality for the first time. for us it's been lifelong...because of our demographic. but it is truly nice to see people wake up to the reality of it.
being my age and the area i live in definitely creates a conflict between knowing something happened and actually processing it and what that meant
i had just turned ten when george floyd was murdered and it was like suddenly my world was turned upside down . minnesota , to me , had been this perfect sanctuary state before and then all of the sudden there were riots and buildings getting burned down and i was regularly sleeping in the basement to stay safe
it ' s such a strange thing to have happen a such a developmental point and i hope i got that across in my work

this was a school assignment , so i did have criteria to meet and i had to censor myself a bit . if i were to have written this for myself rather than for school , it would have been more " raw "
