Silly rant: ''Yeah I just listen to everything''

I've stopped saying this phrase because it has become so lame to me lately. I mean yeah, i do listen to many things but I think like everyone on the planet does. Like actually name one person who ONLY enjoys one type of music.. you can pretend that you're super hardcore straight edge and whatnot but still bop your head to madonna or something like that.

Or when people tell me like ''I just listen to anything that vibes''
... Brother... like... duh..? That's kind of like how personal preference in music works.

But oh man, those types of people thast go ''Why can't I stick to a genre!?!!??!!??! My playlist goes from [insert kpop group] to [insert classic rock band]!!!!''
You're not quirky. You're not unique. And I don't mean this in a mean way, you're actually really not weird, you are quite NORMAL, in fact!!!!!!!!!!!! That's like the most common thing ever to just like different kinds of music. Imagine how boring you must be to only listen to one fucking genre, let alone one single group or artist! Now that's being weird, but not in a quirky interesting way, just weird and kind of obsessive i guess. Same thing applies for art, movies, literature and whatnot.
(not saying you can't like a certain thing a lot, just i don't think basing your WHOLE personality off of it without any exceptions is a good thing)

Anyways, the phrase ''I listen to everything'' doesn't even make sense. I don't like everything, and neither do you. People who say they like actually everything in a certain art form just don't care enough about it, and it's really easy to see.

This is also why i don't like labels that much: when people start liking other stuff they sometimes feel the urge to give more depth to the description of what their music taste is. ''so yeah I'm a huge Beatles fan but i also listen to classical music or jazz when i study and I feel nostalgic for classic rock bc my dad used to listen to it in the car even though my cousin also used to put norwegian black metal on even though I'm a christian so i have to repent each time i listen to it, i also sometimes like edm and breakcore'' (last part abt black metal is a real blog post on this site).

This also applies to bands, I've known bands that consider themselves ''Blackened Technical Death Metal with Progressive Influences'', like dude... who the fuck cares, just play your music and if it's good good if it isn't too bad, your genre labeling isn't gonna make people pay more attention to your songs anyway.

Whatever, this is a stupid rant and it's not that big of a deal since not everyone is that much into music as much as other people like me and I might even give the equivalent of these answers on other topics in which I'm less interested in like sports or science idk. I guess it's a matter of perspective.
