Why is romance so confusing

Romance is so confusing. I've had friends where I thought I might have a crush on them because I enjoy being around them all the time. And I feel like the stereotypical feelings are walls because I know what to expect and think "I must like this person" and then up not liking them. It's so confusing. Anyone else relate? If I'm going to be real honest, I've gotten with people when either I didn't like them or didn't know if liked them. My best friend had a massive crush on me for about a year, I thought I might've liked them, so I played along to make them happy and see if I was feeling what I was supposed to. It ended up almost ruining our relationship as friends. Thank goodness that's not how it played out.

On another note, I thought about myself being AroAce for a while but eventually threw that idea away because it's an awkward thing to tell people. Should I go back to it maybe? Idk. Anyone else feeling like this sometimes?

FELLOW ACE HERE! Tbh you shouldnt throw up what you think you might be because its awkward to tell people. TRUST ME it sucks and it’s annoying but if its truly what you think you are, and its the best explanation for how you feel. You should try and push through and get used to the ANNOYING QUESTIONS. But thats just my opinion. And ive kinda gone through the same thing with a friend. I dated them because they liked me and i THOUGHT i felt the same way! (Lets just say that was a HORRIBLE first and last relationship) i hope you figure this out and this comment helps! 🙏BLESS🙏
