the scene SUCKS

i've been refraining from admitting this for a looong time just because i wanted to hold onto some faith,, but guys.. 

the scene is so gone.

i would say the emo/scene kid scene got really fun in like 2022 and 2023 but lowkey after like mid 2024 its gone so downhill.

at first, it was revived, and i guess kind of revised?/a bit modernized? (as expected), and the community was mostly positive and accepting, which was really nice. ofc new people were coming to the scene and the community was def spreading.

eventually people started bringing back 'old' values such as bringing the importance of politics back and the rejection of fast fashion (diy came back).

but then again hyperpop started to peak around 2023, and the scene was kinda starting to look attractive to weirdos... which quickly people started bringing to light, which was good..

but then id say during mid 2024 the wrong people started coming to the community for the wrong reasons, and a lot of people werent even able to tell the diference between these weirdos and actual cool alternative people...

people started saying "oooh guys lets bring back AUTHENTIC emo!! like from the myspace days!!" and yeea that sounds rreally cool and fun at first glance. I actually was really excited when people started bringing the old emo makeup and clothes back.

but then it started to get really weird,, people started to look a little toooo "era-authentic"...

everyday id see creators get thinner and thinner and posting with more fake blood/injuries and a lot of people started posting themselves in just underwear too.. (mind u,, a lot of people in the scene are under 18.._)

i started to notice these trends and also the fact that everybody seemed to go along with it.

my gut told me this wasnt what we were supposed to revive, yet people kept saying that this stuff and these 'aesthetics' (gore, minor nud!ty, and promoting eat!ng dis0rders) were cute and edgy and 'authentic'.

i tried not to start beef with people by confronting some creators, but when i tell you guys i saw some accounts i physically could not even believe my eyes when i saw them.... i HADD to say something. (and ofc i got so much backlash for it)

i am SO tired of seeing what is supposed to be a community based on celebrating individuality and artistic self-expression get more and more infected by weird, arrogant, performative posers GENUINLEY EVERYDAY. because i am not joking when i say everyday i see at least 3 accounts pop up on my feed like what i mentioned. not to mention the amount of racisim and transphobia ive been seeing lately from some people 'in the scene' as well!!!

this is not okay, im just beyond dissapointed.

i love the emo community, its really really sad to watch this happen all over again.

let me know what you guys think... am i the only one noticing??
