rant about my tiktok comments

i have a account on tiktok where im active in the DC, and people will genuinely rag on you for just breathing. my service dog in training uses a prong collar (that rests on her mid neck, since that’s what works best for her andi’s most comfortable for her aswell). i posted a video yesterday and it showed her prong collar, and i got 14 comments. my account is very new, so i went to go see my comments so i could reply and engage etc. 10 of them were shaming me for having my dogs prong collar too low or telling me to get a life and that my service dog in training is a fake (since i saw a very obviously fake service dog in a non pet friendly place and posted about it). if you didn’t know, there are three placements for prong collars (below the ears, mid neck, and lower neck) and the most commonly used and known one (and socially accepted) is below the ears. there were people replying to others comments educating them on such, which i’m very greatful for.

there was one comment that really got under my skin though—i’ve since removed the post and can no longer find the comment but to summarize it it was basically about how if my service dog in training was a real service dog (clearly the person can’t pay attention for 2 minutes to hear at least 10 times the words ‘my service dog in training’) she would be ‘sleeping around and sniffing the ground’ to which i replied saying that they don’t know what tasks she is in training to perform, my disabilities, and that i will stick with the advice given to me by a professional trainer. my service dog in training is a 9 month old puppy, who isn’t part of the fab 4. i knew people would criticize her and especially me from the start, but it was still so upsetting to read.

sometimes i just sit back and wonder why some people choose to be total jerks to people online instead of just scrolling away
