i just finished anna karenina. it is the first time i actually read the book. i had listen to the audioboook a TON while i would walk to and from school when i was in middle school. it was like 2ish miles both ways and really boring so having an audiobook was nice. i don't know why i chose to listen to anna karenina or why i kept relisten to it but i did all 3 years of middle school. i hadn't read/listen to it since then but i do love the movie with keira knightly so at least i kind of remembered what happened.
so my next adventure is what i like to call the "james joyce cinematic universe" where i will be reading dubliners, portrait of the artist as a young man, ulysses and finnegans wake. i have read dubliners and ulysses before so those will be rereads. i am excited for portrait of the artist as a young man because we get to hang out with one of the main characters in ulysses but finnegans wake scares me. i was prepared for ulysses because i knew i wasn't going to understand it but i was thumbing thru finnegans and that is scary. i will probably have to do a lot of research and reading to understand it like i did when i was reading ulysses.
i was planning to read dune for the first time after my james joyce-a-thon but i think i need to reread a book i have read before that is easy so my brain just doesn't turn to complete mush.
