part 3 of survey answers

DO U ENJOY PARTAKING IN LOCAL SCENES?

I love it. It brings people together and shows how much talent there really is in so many people. It shows that you don’t need to be famous to have your music heard and enjoyed.

Yess bc you meet loads of cool people and have a lot of fun

Yes! You find so much good nusic and meet so many cool likeminded people

I enjoy partaking in music scenes as an attendee even though I’m autistic and dont like the loudness and claustrophobia of shows at times because it’s helped me make so many friends and music is such a deep love of mine that it helps me get out of my comfort zone and experience what It’s like to be a neurotypical person even if it’s just for a few hours

Yes! Making art and sharing it with the world is one of life’s greatest joys

Yes, it is the community I feel safest and happiest in

Absolutely!! Everyone is so creative and it brings people together in a way you cant find through anything else

yes i love it actually very fun and i have an extreme love of strange music. and there are lots of peers to interact with.

Yes. Makes it feel like a community

I do and I don’t. I think I did enjoy it but the more you get into any scene it begins to lose its fun and it begins to feel kinda cliquey and high school drama esque. I enjoy the family feel that these shows have Like a home away from home

yeah, music has always been an important part of my life and music scenes allow me to feel that in real life

Depends. I love the scene where i live, but ive been places where everything i love about it is absent. Bigger cities tend to lose that sense of community and the scene become a bunch of little cliques, which leads to beef and drama and destroys real accountability. Whether it's kids vandalizing venues or someone being predatory it becomes so difficult to hold people accountable and keep your shows safe without a tight knit scene.

i do! it feels like a community of people who have genuinely care for one another

Music is the most important thing in the world

it is exciting to feel like part of something!!! as both part of the audience and as a band member

yes, people tend to be very friendly and have common interests. plus the music is good

Yes very much so, it’s cool to be a part of a scene even just as an audience member and it motivates you to add to the scene with your own DIY projects.

Yes, the people you meet are normally great and it feels more personal and you see the same sort of people at most shows creating connections.

It gives me purpose

It gives me an outlet with both playing and going to shows, with playing it lets me get out everything I want to say and watching lets me go scream songs in a room with other like minded people

I love partaking in music scenes more than anything, it gives me access to the genuine coolest folk imagineable and gives me true queer community

Yes cause you always feel supported in whatever you do, if it's even a handful of people, everyone really makes you feel secure.

i enjoy partaking in music scenes as i love seeing everyone working together to create something fun

The music scene is my life, I couldn't love it more than I already do. Meeting all the wonderful people and exploring their music is an adventure I'll eternally be on.

I do, because it provides a sense of community that isn’t felt in larger shows

local scenes are more authentic than the bigger ones, allow you to find communities, and platform more niche bands :)

Yes, I like the sense of community. People are kind and i can find talk to people with similar interests

Very much so! It makes me feel like I am part of something, and gives me a sense of identity.

Of course, the feeling of community is stronger than any other I've experienced

I love it. I used to play shows myself but not at the moment

Yes very much!! Again live music is amazing, and the community you can make/meet makes it so much better. It's really great to be surrounded by like-minded people that you can bond over music with, especially when you're alternative and usually more outcast

i love that there's an atmosphere that celebrates creativity and people's contributions to art and music within the community

Music scene is life, music scene is community, music scene is wonderful

everyone loves to talk about their fav bands constantly and you get some good recommendations, and you make good connections with so many people

I love just listening to music, dancing, meeting and making friends who enjoy the same genres, buying band shirts

Yes I love to see people improve and analyse peoples performances and experience local talent first hand. It feels so human.

I fear I answered this in the first question

I enjoy the sense of community that comes with music scenes regardless if you spoken to everyone there or not

It gives you an opportunity to play on a stage Infront of a crowd while simultaneously supporting the scene

camaraderie!

I enjoy partaking in music scenes because I'm able to access live music so much more often and build community with other people.

more than anything. I get so much fulfilment from my involvement in the scene and get to be around a bunch of like-minded, dedicated, and creative people

I love music! Plus it's nice to go outside and hang out with people for a change. But my long term love for any and all music would have to be the main reason.

yes! made lots of friends and is the best way to be creative and partake in the arts

I very much do. Although it can be difficult to keep up with everything happening, it's lovely to know that there are people like me out there, and that they absolutely shred.

its tiring at times but i love the sense of community and friendships you can build

There is such a large range of music, influences and types of people at shows. You often won't find these people or this type of culture anywhere else apart from DIY scenes.

You meet a lot of like minded and interesting people

Love it. Love networking and meeting all these creative people. So many ideas and projects floating around

I enjoy it because it makes me feel part of something important . Not because it’s actually important but because the people within the scene put so much into it it’s important to us and that’s what matters. It’s nice to be around people who are as passionate about the same niche as you

The community and its fun to dance

I do enjoy it, Glasgow is such an awesome city for its local scene theres just so many amazing shows and bands and theyre all really cheap so it allows anyone who wants to come to partake!

I love it, it’s a sense of community i feel no where else, a way to express myself and a great emotional catharsis

I do enjoy it, it’s very inspiring and a safe space, place to be myself with likeminded and equally passionate people.

yes! its nice to have a sense of community

I never had the opportunity to listen to the kind of music I like live where I'm from, and I am able to here. Listening to these genres live is just so much better than by yourself from a system.

find new music and friends!
