Gave Myself and Existential Crisis Today ✌🏼

SPOILER ALERT (For The Dark Tower Series. Yes I know it has been complete since 2004. Just in case.)

So today after more than 5 years, 16 books, and over 10,000 pages I finished the Dark Tower Series. And then I cried at work, because why wouldn't I with that ending. Here are some of the thoughts I texted my best friend who got me into the books:

  • I’m honestly mad at myself for not knowing exactly what was going to happen.
  • It’s the perfect allegory for my own life going nowhere ✌🏼 thanks king
  • At least Eddie and Jake and Sus are happy in the end? I hope. Fuck me
  • Ugh. I’m honestly mad. My life is so hard. Thousands of pages. For it to be purgatory-Esque lol. I mean I can’t be surprised. They said Ka is a wheel over and fucking over.
  • Lol I think it’s the perfect capstone. But I’m still mad lol
  • Haha welp. I did it. And it could’ve been worse I guess. He could’ve died before he finished writing it.
  • Oh the ending was perfect and poetic and honestly exactly what should’ve happened, BUT it was also heartbreaking and just a recurring theme of getting fucked after thousands of pages lol. Which. Fair. The man is a horror writer. I shouldn’t have expected anything less
  • Yep. He gave me the finger and told me to get fucked. And I signed up for it. From the beginning. Like I feel dumb for not realizing that was going to be the ending. He basically told us from the beginning that’s what was going to happen.
For anyone that doesn't know and wants to know: Basically the main character goes through this epic of misery and pain, finally gets to the top room of the tower. He opens the door, and it thrust back to the beginning of the journey where he is forced to once again start over 🙃 and just as he realizes what is happening he forgets and is back at chapter 1 page 1 with one tiny helpful change.

So yeah. Life is meaningless and never-ending. So I cried, like a dumb bitch. Yelled about it for a few minutes. And now I guess I have to start a new book series? Anyone have any recommendations?
