Last year I workshopped an idea I had for better combat in tabletop games. I’d done D&D but it never clicked for me like it did with my friends. So, after many nights and weekends of rolling dice and calculating probabilities, the first version of PEAK was born.
PEAK stands for Personal Entertainment And Killing things …or at least it does now. I originally wrote what it stood for on a white board in a friend’s game room where we would all meet to test it. I never thought it would work so well on the first go so I didn’t document the creation very well and by the time we all realized how fun it is the white board had been cleaned and filled with new information by someone else.
Right now I’m testing a possible revision of the game and once I know where the 2D12 combat initiative system works with what I built last summer I’ll be able to put the game out to exist in the world. It uses D6s for almost everything in its current design but I’ve tested a more D&D system for damage with D8s and D6s. So I think when it’s all said and done PEAK will have a few sibling systems for people to pick between
