On Spacehey:
- Bulletins are only available for 10 days. Your friends cannot opt out from seeing them in their bulletin feed.
- Blog posts are visible as long as you want. Your friends have to subscribe to be notified though.
I wish that there were a way to automatically be subscribed to a friend's blog or to opt out of bulletins, but it's just how the site works.
So, my opinion is: we should all save bulletins for either (1) time-sensitive updates that you want all your friends to see, like explaining you might be offline for a while or maybe explaining why your profile is broken (2) issues that are a little more private that you don't mind your friends seeing but would rather not keep visible on the web forever.
For everything else, a blog post makes the most sense. Your friends can unsubscribe from your blog if it's too much or if the content is different from what they are interested in, without having to unfriend you. They cannot do that if someone posts dozens of bulletins.
So I try to use this approach with my bulletins and blog posts. I rarely use bulletins and I think Spacehey users should embrace this approach. I respect others may disagree, however I think the point is still worth sharing.

I wish the website had more notifications in general. Perhaps not for everything, being notified for gaining kudos could become a nuisance for users with popular blogs. Having notifications for subscribed blogs, forum posts and automatic blog subscription for friends would be a nice thing.
Very interesting point and maybe one day it will expand

I usually do bulletins for smaller/more unimportant life updates that i wanna tell friends about, and blog posts for longer thinkpieces that I'm comfortable with people in general seeing. I wish you could auto-subscribe to friends' blogs as well sometimes, or have the subscribe to blog button be visible on people's profiles, because sometimes I will add people and then completely forget to subscribe to their blogs...
Yes I feel so bad when I realize someone has been blogging and I didn't even notice

I usually use bulletins because the things that I want to post are things that you read one time and that's it
sure and that's understandable too

Everytime I see a friend who posts blog I automatically suscribe to them, but even with that sometimes I don't even notice because it's far down on the page
yes i'm glad you can understand
