eeeeeeee it's so cool!
This is the Kyocera KY-42C btw. It's Japanese only but it has an official English translation built in and has enough 4G bands that I can call and text on Whatsapp with an EE SIM card. I hate modern technology like the stuff silicon valley pumps out, so I wanted a simpler, smaller and cooler looking phone for my daily driver. I've only used it for about 5 hours but I'm already in love! It'll look so much cooler when my order from etsy comes in too!
I'm a sucker for old technology, it's a special interest of mine. This has 4G and degoogled android 10 so it's not "retro" but you know what I mean. Doesn't even have a touch screen. My previous phone, my Motorola G54 5G was a good quality phone but it was too modern for my liking: too big, too heavy, too full of modern bullshit like notifications constantly pestering me to update. This is nice. It's weirdly refreshing, takes me back to when I was like 5 messing around on my parents' phones before they got smartphones. I was mostly in the smartphone wars flat icon era but I'm just old enough to remember futiger aero and dumbphones so the nostalgia is like this weird, dream like feeling of only being half present. I'm only planning on using this for Whatsapp, calendar reminders, the camera and looking up random stuff online that's bugging me. I have an iPod for music, a 3DS for gaming and I've got an old ereader in the post for pirated manga (physical ones are so expensive :') ).

Fuck yeah keitai gang! I'm hoping to get a kyocera as either my 2nd or 3rd flip phone, they're so cute. I currently have an Aquos 601sh ^^

Looks nice, I think the flip phone i've bought looks more bulky and more like some old mans phone instead of the aesthetic flip phone.
ancep (evil)
i have a sharp aquos keitai 3 which is basically the same thing (same SoC and android 10 skin) and i wish it was less modern, these are modern phones so they have modern phone issues that i dont really like
the sharp is built well and is pretty durable but lacks a headphone jack for some strange reason
its battery life is also mediocre lasting only 3 days max idle used for the occasional calls and texts, debloated to the best of my abilities
0 custom rom support, theres not even a custom recovery for me to work with to root and debloat the stock rom
the stock skin is pretty good usability wise but is just plain ugly because of, again; its modernness. flat design sucks donkey dick and the android 10 build these keitais run is full of it.
I wish these phones were more complete packages instead of afterthoughts, reusing and cutting features on a chassis' from 2011, using chipsets from 2014 and throwing a half baked build of the latest android every few years
the keitai 2 iirc had a headphone jack and a touch keypad scroll feature, these got cut for some reason and i cant use the keitai 2 because it doesnt do volte..
idk. little rant, its been my main phone for a few years and just wanted to share my experience

I would've thought more modern flipphones would have touchscreens hm how much storage does it have? And can it be upgraded via SD card or something
