The modern concept of dark romance is practically an abuse in every sense, painted as passionate and intense romance. Pure bullshit. And this is coming from someone who sometimes doesn't read AO3 labels.
This carries the same weight as the arguments of yandere visual novel fans. Yes, it's "fiction," but there's still a real person who came up with that idea and actually made it happen. It disgusts me how, mainly young women and teenagers, fiercely defend this crap, which not only borders on domestic violence but there are already several that try to "encourage or normalize" pedophilia, incest or not respecting the consent of others. There's a "book" about a patient in a coma and her doctor; the girl is in a coma.
I will never understand "fans of this literary genre," and I know we all have the right to read whatever we want, but this kind of shit floods the bookstores. I had to say it, I hate modern dark romance because it "normalizes" shit that shouldn't be, and I love dark details in books, but damn this is not normal.
It's the same with "spicy"—ALL FOR PORN. If you want to read erotic literature, look for the corners of erotic literature, not for sex in a dark romance book where there's a lot of "spicy" stuff and messed-up themes that mess up young girls' perceptions of love.
That's all, I'm going to read Anayo x Monika fanfics on AO3
