makeup tips?

i don't exactly know how these "blogs" work, but if i'm correct about how i think they work, i'd love to get some tips from other girls/women.  i'm an 18 year old girl, and although i'm not necessarily ugly, i've never taken care of myself.  i have no idea how to actually do makeup, and despite all my efforts i can never pull it off.  i would love to get some tips from girls on how to correctly do makeup!  i'm turning off comments because i don't want to see any negative comments (• ᴖ •｡ )..
