My fave book is Metamorphisis by Franz Kafka. It's about a guy, Gregor Samsa, who wakes up as a giant insect. It's not too long of a read. It's quite short. It's metaphoricaly about disability. Highly recommend
House of Leaves by Mark Danielewski! It's a story within a story and what I liked about it the most is the horror of 'impossible events' (a house bigger on the inside than on the outside, a hallway that's miles long and a never ending spiral staircase can sum that up)
