We’re living in the most prosperous era in all of human history, and yet most people are more worn out, angry, and depressed than ever. What logical explanation is there for this? More importantly, what can we do to change this?
We’ve evolved to live close to one another, yet these days most people don’t even know their neighbors’ names. It’s really sad.

I really don't know why you say this is a prosperous era with all the contamination, corruption, exploitation, loss of natural habitat and the depletion of resources.
Potentially, yes, and in some aspects like medicine, technology and overall commodities, yes as well. But honestly I don't see this era as prosperous. This is the Anthropocene. Besides, we are literally facing what seems to be the beginning of World War III along the Resource War, and that will bring anything but prosperity and welfare, just more misery.
Perhaps it is by this global situation that people have become the way you describe. The danger is to actually turn the situation into some kind of mindset. It's ok to feel disillusioned and powerless at the state of the world, but that'll just make it worse for you and the immediate people surrounding you.
The technology that was supposed to bring us closer has divided us more from each other over the years. And it's clear that the lack of education wasn't the cause of stupidity, because now we have access to tons of information, of course, amidst all the disinformation on the web. Technology has evolved very quickly, but humans just seem to be devolving further and further to tribalism.
For humans to truly evolve we need to accept our nature and aim to be better, not worse. Life is hard enough, and bringing more suffering and hate into the world is counterproductive and pointless. Beyond knowledge and technology, we need empathy and virtue.
To change the world you must change the mind of people and leaders, which is something uncertain and out of our control... But even so, don't let that stop you from making a difference, not only within you but in your surroundings. As corny as it sounds, be the change you'd like to see in the world.

i think its a mix of phones and the overall state of the world. if we evolve and have a bunch of cool stuffs thats awesome!!! but if we have a bunch of cool stuffs while the world seems to be on fire, its not so fun anymore, yknow? we’re all in our own worlds right now basically
