˚₊‧꒰ა ♡ ໒꒱ ‧₊˚ nearly two months ago from today, boynextdoor released their very first live album coming from their knock on vol.1 final in seoul! they officially released 16, yep you heard it right, sixteen different songs performed during the concerts :O

as a person who actively listens to music while paying much attention to it, i wanted to write about my thoughts when listening to each of the songs! the ranking below is based on how much more enjoyable the songs are when performed live, not about the songs in general. for that, you can check out my blog here where i rank every boynextdoor song !!!

16. One and Only

fav live part: last chorus/outro

-- as we all know, this is a very fun fresh hype song we all love ^__^ it is definitely so so fun to hear live, i literally can't think of any other words to describe it hehe... the band instrumental is pretty nice, but in my opinion the live version doesn't stand out that much hehee like if i was given the option to listen to the live ver or the original ver, i wouldn't have much of an opinion. its always great to hear their amazing adlibs though, especially near the outro :P

15. Step by Step

fav live part: dance break/guitar solo

-- absolutely love how the instruments shine here! but honestly, wouldn't be my top picks for a concert song... definitely more on the uplifting calming vibe, but i dunno it just doesn't hit too hard for me. it really does sound better in a band live setting like this though!!

14. Crying

fav live part: bridge

-- ok i admit this one's quite biased... it honestly doesn't sound too out of the ordinary compared to the original version, but i just love this song guys plus the adlibs in the bridge?!? woah.. the band inst just gives the song a whole diff vibe that makes me forget about the original... also i loovee singing along to this song aah.. the outro is also so nice you guys trust me :'D

13. OUR

-- i really like the band arrangement here! also speaking from experience, this song is supeeerrr fun to hear live hehe.. it's honestly just such a nice happy go lucky song, especially when performed live, and i'm hear for that hehe

12. l i f e  i s  c o o l

-- i love this song so much guys!! lowk underrated, it's so so fun and i would KILL to hear this live again... tbh this is kinda even with 11th and 10th place but idk ill just put this hear. i also loovee the band instrumental in the outro, its really good guys TT other than that, nothing else that stands out too much.

11. Gonna Be A Rock

-- honestly this is such a good band song if only it got an official band live... the sort of angsty vibe of this song just plays in so well aaa... by the way if you didn't know this is one of my fav bnd songs ever, i'm only putting it all the way down here because unfortunately for a concert there's better... sigh.. love u gonna be a rock...

10. I Feel Good

-- girl i would vibe to this SO hard live. the choruses just sound 10x better here i swear, the band is also outstanding ughh it fits so well.. bro i swear i want to put all these songs at 2nd place TT

9. Earth, Wind, & Fire

fav live part: the band instrumental throughout!

-- ughh i absolutely love the concept of this song as a rock song... its so so good, it fits soo well with the band instrumental.. obviously this is the total vibe for a concert.. the way it's the last song too, def a banger to end their performance with ^.^

8. Dangerous

-- i absolutely LOOVEEE the band inst here. i think its so so good, especially at the second verse. it fits so well in my opinion, and it's such an amazing concert song obviously. TT boynextdoor are so good at performing this song, they never fail to make each performance special.

7. But Sometimes

-- this literally fits so well with the band instrumental. almost nothing can compare ... of course i adore the mama 2023 version of this song, but honestly i have a very strong attachment to the bridge and outro.. though i understand it probably wouldn't have fit well here, that's a personal setback of mine TT the chants here are def perfectly hype though!

6. IF I SAY, I LOVE YOU

-- we all know how much of a beautiful song this is. the band version is perfectly hype yet a lil soft to the touch, similar to the song itself. the piano and everything is literally so amazing... but of course the highlight is the band outro, i really really love it you guys ughghgh... literally a moment by itself. what a masterpiece.

5. But I Like You

-- GIRL IM SO OBSESSED WITH THE EXTENDED CHORUSES. i love love how they added more, i literally can't thank them enough. it makes me so incredibly happy you don't understand guys... the song itself sounds quite similar, but the chorus is genuinely super super fun to hear live, especially the last ones. idk if this should be higher than iisly, but its ok cuz this is my ranking guys according to the #heart.

4. 123-78

-- Girl i swear their vocals are actually heaven here. especially woonhak, it sounds sooo much better life oh my days where to even begin... the extended instrumentals are to DIE for and i adore the adlibs they slip in... this song just makes me so happy guys they're so good at performing this aaaaaaaa

3. Nice Guy

-- THE INSTRUMENTAL IS SO SO PERFECT. this song is SHINING. it is a STATEMENT PIECE i say. it's so long too.. the live vocals are once again to die for and this is genuinely just such a perfect song to hear live i genuinely don't know how else to say it i'm in love you guys.

2. Serenade

-- love of my life love of my life love of my life. vocals? perfect. adlibs? perfect. the instrumental is great. this is 80% up here because of my very very strong attachment to this song, and the remaining 20% because of riwoo adlibs lol :P no but genuinely this is the BEST thing i heard live and listening to this makes me beyond happy. i love u bnd.

1. Dear. My Darling

-- THIS is the extended version we have been asking for. honestly i couldn't think of a better way to extend this song. sungho's guitar solo is the main reason why this takes the prize. so so proud of him, he did really good you guys TT so so touching and heartwarming to hear live, i YEARN to hear this live (they didn't perform it when i watched </3) every second of their vocals here are so full of life and emotions, literal heaven. shoutout to the note changes too.. beautiful.
