you should look into progressive christians and how they interpret the bible (they acknowledge that its an old book written in a different timeline so it cant be used as a rulebook for modern society and they are aggressively pro-queer, pro immigrancy and pro sex positivity) im not one but my brother is and he hates the hateful christians

As a Christian, why would I be offended? I fully understand that some people have different beliefs to my own. I’m not going to be upset just because you show afew paragraphs from the satanic bible.

yeahh i meant like theres quite a bit of phrases in the christian bible that r basically fine w (g)rape and stuff and they always say on everything aa its outta context blah blah blah like im sorry but in what context is that okay? meanwhile the satanic bible makes sure to say that weird shi like that is absoloutlly(ignore my shitty spelling not okay) but ppl love to hate on satanism while they dont even know anything abt it but for some reason worship a dude in the sky thats fine with some very disturbing stuff

I have a different perspective on this to most Christians. I believe that the Bible reveals a progressive understanding of God and morality. The Old Testament Israelites are developed to the point where they could understand that there’s only one God but they were still primitive and tribal so they imagined him as having all the unpleasant characteristics of the tribal gods they were used to as well as the moral defects of their culture. As the Old Testament progresses the understanding of God and morality gradually develops. For example we go from a God who demands the death penalty for even the most trivial of offences to a God who “desires not the death of a sinner but that he turns from his wickedness and lives “.

Then we come to the New Testament where Jesus reveals a God who is loving and forgiving. Most of the rest of the New Testament is written by Paul who ( in my opinion) demonstrates an imperfect understanding of the teachings of Jesus and an inability to break free of the prejudices of his culture which is why he continues to condone slavery and homophobic attitudes. Interestingly Jesus never condones slavery in any of the four gospels but consistently sides with the poor and oppressed. As for homosexuality, Jesus himself never even mentions it.

I personally think that intolerance of different beliefs is a dangerous force for evil. I’m a Christian but I have friends with other beliefs both online and irl. One of my irl friends is actually a Satanist and he’s a really cool guy. (Believe it or not even Christians and Satanists can be friends if we respect each other’s right to our own beliefs).

Nice! Take your time tho, it's kinda lengthy. Maybe you can just start with the old and new testaments? Idk honestly, you better google what to start with. The bible is a collection of 66 books, so you don't necessarily need to read the whole thing in chronological order. And maybe some books are not as necessary. Then again, if you want to critique the bible and Christianity as a religion, maybe it's better to read everything to have the full picture and not skip any books. Idk, I'm agnostic. Maybe someone christian would be better to give advice on this
