Like a dog I'll wait by your side
I'll sit, begging for an ounce of attention
I'll do whatever you want me to
And like a dog I'll wait on your call
When you're gone it's like I'm sitting at the door
You're out of the house and will be a for awhile
And yet I wait and whine and beg
I want to be a good dog for you
I want you to keep me around for awhile
I'll stay loyal and true
And always listen to you
Kneeling as you sit
Hoping you'll give me a few pets
I'm a pathetic mutt
But I'll be as good as I can be
I'll be quiet when you tell me to stop barking
And I'll speak on your command
I don't know many tricks
But I hope I'm good at the ones I know
I hope I'm good enough for you to not regret keeping me
For I love like a dog
And some people prefer cats
