Social media is a social weapon to make you complacent in your mundane life. It has replaced a youth monoculture with a collective of nothing but fear. Live more offline.
I'll elaborate: I personally believe modern-style social media such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook have ruined the minds of everyone who uses them, SpaceHey is an exception, as is Tumblr.
Algorithmic social media is responsible for the total destruction of a modern youth monoculture in order to destroy any youth counter culture, without a culture there can be no counter. Every alternative person now is a copy paste of someone born 23 years before them, trying to relive a time they never existed in. Every alternative friend group is a set of 3 friends instead of a collective of the entire underground, as each group will individually decide what they're rebelling against, this is to stop any effective revolution because it is now impossible for people to organize with real demands. The underground is dead and stale with no real innovation since the early 2000s.

Omg so true a lot of today's "culture" is really just trend hopping /3 few people nowadays have a real/solid enough sense of self to really engage in culture rather than aesthetics /3

No bc it's SO frustrating...especially when something you actually do like gets co-opted by a trend and then people think ur a poser (except now these posers are throwing around the term larp/larper but they don't even know the lore behind tHAT) and ARGH it's rough out here X00

I agree. You might like my blog entry on social media, give it a look if you want :)
thats cool! i read it and yeah i agree. unfortunately as a musician i have to be on the internet, im starting to read more frequently again, though. Im coming from the perspective that the internet is truely a government funded social weapon in order to disperse the masses to remove any possibility of unity to overthrow so we live in a state of perpetual downward motion, hense (at least in the U.S) more and more corruption in our government. this isnt to say corruption wasn't already prevalent. Tech companies killed monoculture, the music industry and any semblance of unity.
