To be honest, I am SO disappointed in my own religion, and I'm starting to leave it. Which angered my mom, and she DIDN'T even try to understand WHY I'm leaving it, she didn't want to listen to my opinion. So, to let my chest out, I will talk about it on my blog, vent about and explain why I'm dissapointed in my religion and why I'm leaving it
DISCLAIMER : It's MY opinion, please don't throw rocks at me :'(. I just wanted to let my heart talk about it because I have nobody to talk about it. I am so sorry if it hurted you in your faith. I RESPECT YOUR RELIGION. It's just I wanted to talk about MY FAITH and MY POINT OF VIEW.
My religious background
So for starter I was born in a Christian family, Catholic to be super precise. There's some that are Protestant and Pentecost but u get it we're all Christian!
But my brother and I are the only one that aren't baptized, not cus my mom wanted us to get a choice, but bc she could not afford money for our baptism and bc my abusive dad weren't here to assume both of us.
I used to go to church without even understanding what's going on, I never read the Bible and didn't get the Catechism.... But recently, after my huge depression and attempt, I wanted to get closer to God. I actually got closer and learnt about Islam cus all of my friends are Muslim, and it pleased me, but I went back in Christianism cus my mom dissuaded it.
For a moment I went hard into my religion, going to church, buying and praying a lot, reciting the rosary, etc...
So I do have a huge background of Christianism, but I got disappointed about a lot of things and I will try to talk about it and why I'm leaving it.
Misogyny and patriarchy in the bible
As I started to read the bible, I just realized that Christianity is a man exclusive thing. OF COURSE, I know that it was made a while ago. But like, that's actually shocking and sad. One verse that disgusted me is Deuteronomy 22:28-29. It basically mean if a man violates n(YES, violates, NOT SLEPT) a virgin girl, he has to pay HER DAD 50 shekels and marry her. Genuinely the worst verse I ever did read like genuinely. I also do know that now it's not applicable now but it's still terrible that such law is on the Bible.
Or just more misogynistic verses like Genese 3:16 or Leviticus 12:1-15....
But even still some Christian men (I SAID SOME) are so obsessed with women, and they have a misogynistic view on women. Just see how they treat abortion, how they want to not make a choice. They just want to control women's bodies.
Slavery history
It's mainly about that. To be honest, as a Black Girl, being Black AND Christian is proving how colonization worked because Christianism is not our culture. In Africa, they have their own religion before White colonizers went and litterally FORCED Christianity on us. How is that religion of peace used to enslave our people and hurt us while saying God is great :(. But I do understand a lot of Blacks are Christian and can't leave... And how nowadays, ancestral African religions are demonized... It's so sad to be honest :(((((
A lot of bigots in that community. . .
Geniunely why I'm leaving it tbf. SOME Christian are bigoted AS HELL. Just look at the Internet and you'll see how bigoted and mean SOME Christians are. Like they are the first throwing slurs are everyone they see (POC, LGBTQ+ ppl, even disabled ppl). And then they'll put a Bible verse saying be kind to everyone and God loves you. I HATE IT. And mostly of them are racist and white supremacist. Look at the face of SOME Christian ppl, it's usually white supremacist bigoted ppl.. Like CK for example, that is used as the man who loves God and whatever.
LIKE HELL I hate it. I remember I wanted to follow on twt a Christian account cus they posted verses and religious tips. Until I scrolled more and they posted smth like "Abortion is m*rder, LGBTQ is sin, Jesus is King, God is great" HOW DISGUSTING you are to use a religion just to spew hate and straight bs. That's not what God taught you. That's why I hate it, they are such bigoted ppl >:(
And just see by yourself. For example, in Europe, a lot of Christian are nationalists and are from far rights, having some really racist opinions and then say stuff like God loves you and putting the cross emoji on their bio. It's getting annoying, and I KNOW that not all Christians are like this… But when we go to the Internet, it's just this, even IRL I saw a lot of Christians being racist and mean. Even in France there's a case like that, a dude got beaten to death, and they painted him as a good Catholic boy and helped the poor, until a media discovered (Mediapart)his twt acc, and he was a racist, a neon**i, Austrian painter fan and wanted the d**th of Black people....... It's getting REALLY ANNOYING...:(((((((( (source -- It's in French but u can translate it!)

So yeah.. That's what I wanted to say, sorry if it was a long yapping. I got hyper dissapointed with it and I begin to leave it, I am so sorry if I did hurt anyone about what I said, but I wanted to tell my opinion and let it out my chest because my mom don't want to listen to me and tried to silence me about it.....
I am actually interested in Theology so I did read a lot of sacred book like the Bible, the Quran and the Torah. Cus I love it and I want to knwo the three biggest monotheist religion in the world ^^. I am also learning about other religions and "niche" ones, huge Theology fan! I have learnt about Zoro Astranism, it's interesting. And I am so thrilled to learn about other one.

just a technical note - bigots, weirdos, ultras can be found in every religion or philosophy, it is not about THING itself, it's always about people themselves; the same goes for race, nationality, etc.

you are lowkey right asl abt that. It's every religion or race or nationalities but in my experience mostly of the ppl I saw being bigoted are Christians sadly, NOT ALL OF THEM THO, just some that is defacing the community sadly :(

Honestly? Can understand you, but religion doesn't mean ppl who follow it. You're right that they represent the religion they follow but these kinds of things will always get used

A lot of the points you’ve made are extremely valid reasons to distrust Christianity but there are multiple extensive interpretations that people can come across when reading the bible such as when you mentioned sexism yes many of the bibles old laws are not ok I agree but women were the ones that kept the house clean and cooked and took care of the kids while the men worked to provide money and I believe women were the financial advisors of the household but please correct me if I’m wrong but if you really wanna form your own opinion about Christianity do more research and discover how it ties into history it’s extremely fascinating
those are interpretations of the book. but a book scarcely matters compared to the outcome of its ‘teachings’ in the world. christianitys base values (love your neighbor.. etc) are entirely fine alone.

Yeah I did some research and DID read the whole Bible so idk what research you want me to do more. But actually even in history Christianity was resolutely bad, for example in my country (France), Catholicism did pretty bad things like manipulating peasants with buying tickets for heaven, hiding them the teaching of Bible (a lot didn't even understand the Bible cus it was a Latin, and they can't even read, so the Church could manipulate them as they were superior just like Kings and Queens) or the mistreatment or killing Protestants because they didn't like them at all. That's why tbf we stopped being a Catholic country since 1905. Of course women were the one cooking and cleaning, and that's the problem, they didn't get the same laws as men. The only women they worship is Mary, Jesus' Mother, Bernadette and Elisabeth (there's maybe more, but my memory is short). So yeah, of course they have some good verses based on peace and love, but to be honest that religion doesn't please me anymore for the reasons I said, and I prefer to leave it.
