'Funeral Parade of Roses' and 'The Cook, The Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover' are some of favourite films I'd highly recommend (from '69 and '89 respectively). One is an unique film that's half about a trans woman named Eddie's life in the 60's Tokyo clubscene and half an interview with the actors on clubbing, drugs, gender, etc. The latter is a film about a woman who takes a lover after her disatisfaction with her abusive husband who owns a restaurant, it's shot so beautifully; it's like an extremely dark Wes Andersen film

Is My Bloody Valentine considered popular?

A little lesser known classic is The Invisible Man (1933). I don't see many people talk about it as much as Frankenstein or whatevs. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but it does lean into more comedic territories.

Suspiria, Urban Legend, Carrie (the old one), Rosemary's Baby, Psycho, Phenomena, Eyes Without A Face, and Inferno (1980). All horror (or horror-ish) movies :)
