Analog Bag trend

Recently, My FYP on Tik Tok has been Analog Bags. If you are unaware of this trend, it's basically people putting hobbies into a bag and talking about how they want to reach for the things in that bag instead of scrolling so much on their phones. Now don't get me wrong, I do think we should be getting offline more and being present in reality or doing actual hobbies instead of scrolling so much. I even have my own Analog Bag, but I've had my bag for years (I'll go over what's in mine later in the post). However, I worry that this will just be another trend that dies off in a few weeks or months and people will be back into doom scrolling. The reason I have this worry is because it seems people are seeing what others have in their bags and then going out and buying those specific things for their own, even the bag itself. I worry it's just playing into the overconsumption issues we have nowadays (in the USA at least, i don't know how other countries are with overconsumption).

I think Analog Bags can be great, if people put things that actual help them off their phones and they genuinely enjoy into the bags. My personal rule for a hobby is to buy a kit of a hobby, try it, and if i like it great, if I don't I donate it and try something else. I started doing things like this because it helps me spend less and helps me try things without pouring a ton of money into something I might not like. Now, I did buy things to put into my Analog Bag, but they were things I was planning on buying and using anyways (some being a part of current hobbies and some being a part of hobbies I wanted to try). My bag isn't "Screen Free" but it's "Phone Free".

Things I have in my bag include:

- Murdle Puzzle Book Volume 1

- Coloring Book and Pens

- Nintendo Switch + Games

- Journal

- Word Search Puzzle Book

- Single Player games like 15 Letter Dice Game, Kanoodle, A Gentle Rain and Palm Island

- A Portable DVD Player + Headphones and a DVD case with DVDs in it

- The book I'm currently reading (which at this time its Zodiac Academy Book 6: Fated Throne)

- My current Crochet project (a green scarf)

Like I said, most of these hobbies are ones I already had or wanted to try and am currently enjoying. Do you have a Analog Bag? What hobbies do you have?

I think the trend is fine, a little silly to give it a name, but if it helps people find hobbies that aren't phone-related that's awesome.

I mean, I don't have an Analog bag TM, I just pack into my purse anything that I'd like to do outside my home that day. Am I reading something? Book on purse. Do I feel like Journaling at a café? Journal/junk journal on purse. Do I want to doodle in the park today? Sketchbook on purse.

Hyperconsumption is all around us, everything we do will be susceptible to turn into the new tik tok trend, but at least I think that some people will find something they like and that improves their life. The being-less-on-your-phone bit it's a plus at this point.

I agree. The name is a little silly and I do hope it genuinely helps people.

I do have an analog bag. It only really has a few things like my book ( Midnight Sun from the Twilight series), my sketchbook, my sudoku book, my media journal, and some journaling stuff like stickers and highlighters. They are all things that I already liked. I love the concept and I really hope it doesn’t die.

I love that! I'm actually thinking about downsizing mine some because it's a bit too heavy lmao. How has Midnight Sun been? I hope the trend doesn't die too
