through the new culture that has flourished on social media- everything is fast, rapid, one click and it all fades away from your brain. i can't seem to remember half the things i have consumed lately through short form content, i forget them as soon as i move on to the next video .
there is something so special about having something that is yourself, like an obscure piece of media you find that makes you go "wow. i have never felt so seen before" . It's simple, really; for one, we all want to find the people who align with our interests, and our principles. what better way is there to do that than to create a niche for yourself?
what exactly is a niche? the textbook definition is : a situation, or activity specially suited to a person's interests, abilities or nature . in this decade where everything feels mass-produced, marketable, i think the one thing we all can do is become more intentional in our ways of living. instead of purchasing pieces of clothing that you may not like as much, spend your time looking for something you will actually wear; something that feels uniquely yours. curate your space, personalize the things you own .
your niche does not need to stay constant, as human beings we are bound to evolve & change, for it is the only constant thing in our lives. but when you find something that really makes you happy, hold on to it. for me, if i find a band that i really enjoy; i will research about them, and be more intentional with the way i listen to their music, by only focusing on the music when i want to listen to them. you can maintain travelling journals, daily journals to log in your thoughts or any of the media you've consumed lately so that you remember what truly makes you who you are. I try my best to maintain a journal- however most of my thoughts are sprawled out onto my notes app ..
we should all become more excited about the things we do& the media we consume, i love finding a corner of the internet that truly makes me feel like it was made especially for me, i also love discovering new things, people, art that i would have never seen before if i hadn't explored and searched for them. in this digital realm, we are all truly an extension of what we consume. so be intentional, consumption is not really a bad thing when you find yourself connected to what you take into yourself. don't be a slave to the algorithm, and don't let it be your only source of information.
meaningfulness is the only thing we have left in our lives that are controlled by big conglomerates and evil ceos ... so keep searching for it in everything you do.

this is so important !! especially with the modern attitude of being nonchalant or whatever, having a niche and being a part of niche communities helps preserve internet culture and interests, and you're right that it gives people a sense of purpose. i think spacehey is probably one of the best places for that sorta thing though- its a small social platform that's big on privacy which is great !! its the kinda place we are encouraged to be our authentic selves :> so niche communities can thrive here and people can be inspired by others like we has humans are meant to be !! if people actually start using groups at least--
yes!! a 100%, spacehey is such a personalized space that is not controlled by intruding algorithms, it feels like a form of rebellion against the new established social media culture
thank you for your lovely comment 💞
