RIPPIN’ UNDIES!!! (lost media lol)

Mark “Jacko” Jackson is a famous AFL (Australian Football League) player from back in the day, known for his energetic personality and bizarre, over-the-top antics both on and off the field. He also had a short-lived music career. To clarify, I am not an AFL fan by any means, though I’d probably pay more attention to it if its stars still did shit like this today…

Okay so above is his biggest “hit”, “I’m an Individual”. Despite being pretty bad, it’s also strangely endearing in its ridiculousness. He also release another single, “Me Brain Hurts”, though that one kinda just sucks.

However, I was recently reading this blog post about Mark Jackson’s music career which, as I would expect, describes the two aforementioned songs, but then goes on to list a third single, a rap song released in 2000 with fellow retired footy star Warwick Capper called “Rippin’ Undies” which was apparently so bad that it can’t even be found anywhere on the internet. To quote the blog post:

“A few years later, he released another musical travesty, with the aforementioned Wazza Capper in tow; a techno track called “Rippin’ Undies” which is so bad that even YouTube doesn’t have the video for (thank heavens!!!) and Wikipedia doesn’t even acknowledge it’s existence.”

And uhhhh…. they weren’t kidding…

I looked it up and sure enough, I can find almost nothing on this song. It doesn’t seem to be on any music streaming sites or video sharing platforms, though it does have a Discogs page and a few mentions in Reddit comments and some blogs posts and articles, so it definitely exists!

I just need to hear “Rippin’ Undies”, at least once in my life. This has become, like, my own personal lost media case. Maybe I could reach out to see if anyone has it recorded on VHS? But then what are the odds that I’d actually find someone who does???

At least we have this video of Jacko “rapping”, from 1990, which might give us some idea as to what this song might have sounded like…
