Controversial opinion: I think its a good change.
𐔌՞ ܸ.ˬ.ܸ՞𐦯 Yes, it does limit new people from accessing something that they might really want to try out, but i dont think thats a big issue bc Napoleonite is still there (link for mine in my profile btw) and THRIVING.
𐔌՞ ܸ.ˬ.ܸ՞𐦯 Ive been here a while now and I can say that stuff was already starting to fall appart bc of how many spam accounts were around and messing stuff up (especially poluting the recent tab on the blogs). Layouts were shut down bc people were spamming GORE there, btw, so this isnt new. There are too little mods for a site like this and if they dont have the funds to get more of them / better quality of moderation (idc tbh), then its a good idea to protect the community by gradually cleaning up those accounts that are making this an unsafe/ uncomfortable space.
𐔌՞ ܸ.ˬ.ܸ՞𐦯 Mind you, there are lots of minors here, myself included, and the quantity of predators is just too fucking large for a community like spacehey's. If closing doors to newcomers is the solution to make it a better place, then im all for it. Besides being a literally TEMPORARY decision, people who really want to join still can if they find someone on the platform who can invite them (friends they already have or smth else ig).
𐔌՞ ܸ.ˬ.ܸ՞𐦯 This barrier drives off people looking to spam / predators and, really, I think that if they finally decided that it was becoming an issue too big to handle, we shouldnt be criticizing the hell out of the creator bc they were sufficiently mature to decide it was enough already. Most would let it be bc growing the platform would bring them more profit. Im really not bothered by this new change, and I honestly think that if you're pressed about it it's because: 1- You havent thought enough about the matter; 2- Know something I dont, bc maybe Im missing something and it was actually a shit decision.

I think this site takes effort to use and a genuine want to be apart of the community. if someones willing to put in that effort to learn the ins and outs of the site and the various things done here, then they should be perfectly capable of finding the tip of the iceberg spacehey community and passing a vibe check with someone to get an invite. If you have the right attitude, it shouldnt be difficult to get and in, its not like theyre iron bar gating the place. i think this will be great for the community until the site can afford or find better moderation

I think it’s better, because REAL people are actually joining, unlike instagram where you ARE the PRODUCT, and no sense of community.
It’s not paid subscription either because if it was then id just turn into some tech giant that runs algorithms on it’s own users.
Donations are always good though because then it’s own people are keeping it running!

Ik is 2 avoid the colapse of the web the masssive spam accounts n things like that but idk is still kind of annoying :(
cause i have like 2-3 friends that would LOOOVEEEEE to join here but i can't let 'em in cause the page won't let me create invite links for 'em :(((

ngl I'm honestly super happy spacehey is invite only. I joined aaaages ago (admittedly I'm not super active) and have seen hordes of awful bot/spam accs that had gore/nsfw shit as their pfp which was just gross AF. It sucks that new ppl have to know someone already on here to get an invite but that's kinda just how it is. Other sites (e.g: toyhou.se) have been invite only for ages too so it's not like invite only spaces are anything new. Besides, it feels more like a safe community/club now :3

Hi im new. I just learned now that spacehey wasnt always invite only. I agree that there are a lot of minors, to be honest I didnt expect it at all, I assumed most people would be people who remembered and missed myspace. Do you recommend napoleonite for adults? It is kind of daunting no offense intended to anyone at all but yeah so many ppl are so young and im not used to it?? I think a setting for minors to exclude seeing stuff from adults and adults to exclude seeing stuff from minors would be good.

I definitely think this will make the space not only safer but more friendlier and overall active limiting accounts made then abandoned pretty quickly on top of hopefully less bots plus more friends will actually interact which is space heys whole point

tbh absolutely agree. this website being invite only prevents a crazy stupid amount of spam accounts and is a great way to keep the site safer with more oversight on who is signing up.
