people don't understad it aint easy - SpaceHey

spacehey is doing this invite only thing so you can't join spacehey without being invited by another user first.

i already knew people would be toxic about this, because this platform's user base has consistently shown a lack of understanding on the resources and work behind running a platform like spacehey, so i'm not even bothering to read other's opinions on it (outside of friends), but want to provide my own because i think we need more people who aren't insane giving their level-headed opinions.

while i think making this site invite only sucks for people who haven't gotten the chance to make an account yet, and will stunt the site's growth, i understand how this change is necessary when you're a small team of people who don't have the resources to keep up with moderation. 

This is a band-aid solution that I doubt is meant to be long term. It sounds like they are implementing this feature so they have some time to get their bearings and figure out a more permanent solution. This current band-aid fix is meant to preserve the current quality of interactions and users on this site and prevent the bot/spam problem from getting worse. It won't stop the problem or actively make it better, but it should slow the rate at which things get worse and give the devs some time to come up with a more permanent solution. 

It's really that simple.

People on here are so quick to act insane. It reminds me of how people act on Twitter or Tik-Tok. There's such a profound ignorance among users on this platform in regards to how things work. Such hostility and volatile words thrown at the devs that is really unnecessary. 

Maybe this lack of emotional regulation and intelligence is due to the majority of people on spacehey being young kids who never learned fandom or internet etiquette. Much entitlement from people who wouldn't even know how to craft a print statement in any programming language. People who don't even know what an SQL database is are out here shaming the devs saying they're not trying hard enough and saying their evil or something. 

it's tired.
