Happy National Learn About Butterflies Day

It's National Learn About Butterflies Day! With that being said, I wanted to share some Butterfly facts.

Butterfly facts:

• Butterflies live on a liquid diet. They drink the nectar from flowers. Their mouth acts as a straw and can curl and uncurl when needed.  Some species also enjoy tree sap, rotting fruit, and animal dung. 

• Butterflies can be found on every continent except Antarctica.

• Butterflies are insects, they have a head, thorax, and abdomen. They have 6 legs and 4 wings. 

• Butterflies use their antennae to look for food and fellow butterflies.   

• A Butterfly’s life cycle involves 4 stages: the egg, caterpillar, pupa, and butterfly.
