blogging 101 for beginners

14-MAR-2026

a thing i see on a lot of recent blogs are usual questions abt blogging, from 'whats allowed?' to 'how do i put in pictures?' (and the classic 'be my friend!'). a part of this is from not being used to a site where you have to be actively engaged and not just doomscroll, as well as most site-customization being based off templates and not manually coding things yourself.

im not gonna answer that photo question. i think its an insult to that person's intelligence.

right under the 'content' header, there are a row of buttons. click them and see what they do. just hovering your cursor over the icons tells you what they do, and i think exploring an interface yourself teaches you more than needing a guide for every function.

(so many buttons, so many options!)

same with html codes. it still surprises me that theres so many autoplayer layouts and that ppl take requests, and their users just give up when the specific song they want hasnt been turned into a layout yet. you can just... edit the code yourself... you look at a working autoplayer code, copy it, and insert your own link.

like i said, for a site that requires you to be active to get friends, you also have to be active in how you use the site and not wait for other people to do it for you. you miss out on a lot of fun html and blogging by refusing to explore the site yourself.

if you look at my page, there are several floaties. i did not wait for someone to post the code to have them in that exact position, i looked at how ppl coded in floaties then did it myself. and it was fun! the 'my best friends' section, made by The_WifeOfTheDead, was edited by me so that you can use it in ur heroes section and it took... a while, but i did it and i learned.

now. what do you PUT in a blog? there are a lot of things 2 write abt and you dont know what the people want. an easy thing is fandom. theres a new season of ur fave show coming up? post a blog and share ur thoughts, like what u want to happen and change. ur feeling passionate about a book u read? give a review on it. for example, i made a blog about the 5th chapter of Poppy Playtime. yes, its a bit long and didnt get much attention, but i feel better having gotten my thoughts out and knowing that its out there for someone to find later.

you may have also noticed that some popular blogs r just engagement bait, usually with a shocking title. i cant really speak on the content of those blogs, bc i dont read them. if you just want numbers, then go ahead and post inflammatory bs that makes ppl think ur a cloutchaser.

but if thats not ur style, then....

blog abt what you actually care about! art blogs r also really appreciated and im always glad to see art blogs in the top blogs section. for example, i bring up my oc a lot, and having several art blogs makes it easier for ppl to learn abt him, plus i made a site for him with all his art and extra info! passion makes every1 look cool, and if u really care about something then itll show in ur blog. i wrote a blog about ai, being an ex-character.ai user, and im still proud of that blog and how it resonated with the ppl who read it.

you should also make ur blogs interesting to look at! coloured text, dividers, paragraph breaks, and images make walls of text look less daunting and make longer blogs easier to read. its also a great way to develop ur own style of blogging, which makes u more recognizable, but is also FUN!

i really recommend finding gif hoards for this, so that u have one ez site to get a bunch of cool images and gifs and whatnot. i use my own, grave disrespect, which i think is pretty robust, plus it links to a bunch of other gif hoards. sometimes you can make ur own, especially blinkies which u can make at blinkies.cafe!

spacehey is a place to fully express ur creativity, and that will be hard. but it will be rewarding! and when people notice the work u put into your blog, youll feel rewarded. even if you dont get numbers on ur blog, find happiness in having made it and be proud of ur work. its not a reflection on ur self worth, and it doesnt make ur circle of friends bad ppl either. ultimately you should blog for yourself and strive to make it reflect you as much as possible, whether its thru ur subject material, your format, the images you use, or how you decorate text.
