my review for send help

i've decided to start uploading more frequently on my blog rather than just uploading my songs so i can have a bit more fun with blogging and writing :)

with that being said, here is my review for the movie 'send help'.

This movie was such whiplash.

First of all, Linda is the perfect mix of cringe and terrifying. Especially in the office, it was painful to even watch. Rachel is a phenomenal actor, and the way she had genuine chemistry with Dylan throughout the movie made me silently root for her. Despite how genuinely awful she was, I continued to root for her and was beyond joyful that she prevailed in the end.Β

It is really unfortunate that people who consider others to be embarrassing, cringe, or too positive, will find a way to bring them down. Dylan’s character is the perfect antithesis of someone who fundamentally only cares about himself and his small circle of friends. There are times in the movie where I believed that he was trying to change and become a better person etc, but after poisoning Rachel’s character, most sympathy that I had for him vanished. I don’t think he deserved to be castrated, but at the same time, Rachel was giving him a taste of his own medicineβ€” even though it was brutal and extremely violent.

However, I will say that the editing of this movie was choppy at times. It reminded me of microsoft powerpoint with the way it would suddenly cut away from certain scenes. Despite wanting to keep things a secret and kind of a mystery, it’s very clear what was going to happen after it cuts away.Β

For example, it’s quite obvious that Rachel was going to kill Dylan’s fiancΓ© and the man, because what else would she do? If she let them find Dylan and reconcile, all hell would break loose, they might team up and kill her or get her put in jail etc the possibilities are limitless. You can see the idea rolling around in her head as soon as his fiancΓ© shows up, and since she castrated him two days prior, murder feels like a small stepping stone from her violent behaviour.

Rachel’s character is the perfect epitome of a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Dylan’s character is so genuinely pathetic that I felt bad for him at the start, but I realised that they’re both as bad as each other. By the time they were first fighting at the end, I didn’t care who won, but it was clear Rachel’s character would win because of how smart and calculating she is.

I might rewatch, it’s definitely worth watching again for the action parts.
