Joseph Desaulniers & MULTIVAC

Hello everyone, I have more things to say about Identity V so you all get a blog post about it. YAY

Short post today, sorry.

So I have been taking a literature class focused on sci-fi and fantasy, and we just covered Asimov's The Last Question. This has me thinking about it again. COA IX, as you may know, is based on this story. I'm going to avoid summarizing it here because that would defeat the point of me linking it, but I will encourage you to read it. The important thing to know for this post, though (spoilers ahead), is that it revolves around a supercomputer known as MULTIVAC, which is implied to become God and create humanity at the end of the story, possibly in a cyclical nature. It also talks a lot about entropy, and how or if it's possible to stop it.

This, I think, is why this story is a perfect fit for Joseph. Considering his lack of actual lore connections, most of his story is self-contained and he can be summarized as someone chasing immortality. Everything he does is in pursuit of preventing death (and arguably reversing time to retroactively prevent Claude's death ((his brother)) ). What's interesting about it this is that it's implied in his lore that he's successful, not necessarily in reversing time but at least in preserving his own youth and capturing other people's lives in his photographs and keeping them alive. (especially if he is Mr. Leroux, unless his new letter contradicts this. I did not realize it was his character day when I started writing this and haven't read it yet)
