just finished Stranger Things Season One!

JSYK: I WROTE THE ACTUAL REVIEW BEFORE I WROTE THE BLOG INTRO and i also wrote the review in one draft so if it sucks i know it does and i apologize for subjecting you to this

most of my friends have been head over heels for this show since it started out, but i just started it about a week ago, so i have a lot of catching up in my future. this is just a ramble, not a proper review, but i will put one up on my website some day eventually

a cute show so far, the horror isn't really doing it for me, but i like nancy. i think from a writing perspective it was dumb she ended up with steve(i know they break up eventually) but i it would have been worse if she started dating jonathan(i don't really like that this romantic drama took up so much screen time, it felt forced and didnt add much to the story or characters other than steve) i like nancy a lot, it feels like she might become less of a focus in later season, but i would love to be proven wrong! the main cast of guys are all sweet, i like dustin and lucas most, they bounce off eachother in a very fun to watch way. eleven and mike are not cute at all wtf stawp why did he kiss her eww i like them both as characters but their 'romance'(dude they are babies) is even worse and less relevent than nancy's! not only does it not have any plot revelence, it actively makes both characters less likeable. idk it kind of feels like wish fufilment, like wow this nerdy white boy got a girlfriend in middleschool who is way cooler than him and has superpowers. not that i don't like mike, he is a nice, well written character and i wouldnt mind if he had a one-sided crush on eleven, but ewww of course she likes him back she lived in his bacement he has been one of the only people who consistently show her kindness and tries to understand her but ugh. it is such an awful dynamic. on a lighter note i love hopper and joyce, seperately and as a pair they are the only sunshine in my life. acab but also hopper from stranger things
