Why start a blog?

At the end of 2025, I reached a point where I realized that my existence online no longer brings me joy. As a teenager, I loved the aspect of social media that allowed me to make genuine connections and share the things I love, my thoughts on the world, and little glimpses of everyday life.

The first friends that I made on the internet shaped me into the person I am today, and my biggest idols were Tumblr queens of the Swedish alt scene. Entering their blogs, it was filled with silly text in bright colours, emoticons, sparkling cursors, and background music from “magical girl” animes like Sailor Moon. It was a self-indulgent performance of self, a fantasy. 

The point is: I enjoyed the performativity of posting online as a teenager! It had an air of whimsy that I feel gets lost in the constant strive for authenticity. Every time I post, I worry about how it will be received. 

Am I being too shallow? 

Does it seem like I see myself as deserving of interest, of attention? 

Does that make me a bad person?  

At the same time, I watch the world fall apart on my “For You Page.” I don’t feel like the value of information that I get from scrolling is worth the damage that I genuinely feel it causing my brain. I am genuinely scared by how the algorithms affect the information I consume, and I am fleeing from AI.  

So, this year I decided to take a step back from my usual social media, and start a blog instead! Then someone recommended me Spacehey, so I thought I would do some crossposting.
