Hedonvalescence | Healing Through Pleasure | A MorDictionary Neologism

Sometimes when life hits you hard, & we humans attempt to recover emotionally via things we find pleasurable, whether it's a constructive behavior like visiting a museum, or a normally destructive behavior, but, theoretically, possibly inadvertently constructive behavior of a binge alcoholism, wherein you just happen to meet the business partner or wife/hubby that changes your life.

We at MorDictionary attempted to make a neologism for this recovery via pleasure whatnot, with a neutral denotation, but likely, often negative, connotation, based on how we predict others will use the term.

Noun

Hedonvalescence (uncountable)

1. The process of emotional recovery or strengthening through the pursuit of pleasure, especially sensory or hedonistic experiences, typically following a period of loss or emotional distress.

2. A coping mechanism characterized by indulgence in pleasurable activities as a means to heal or regain well-being after hardship, such as the end of a romantic relationship.

In short: healing through pleasure.

In the video, the protagonist numbs emotional pain through a cycle of partying, hookups, and substance use, illustrating how indulgence in pleasure can become a form of avoidance that prevents true emotional healing.
