R.I.P. Little Big Planet (╯︿╰)

I just found out that Little Big Planet 3's servers had just shutdown recently, which is honestly kind of saddening. I understand that the game (the franchise, not LBP3 specifically) has been around for nearly two decades, (it came out in 2008) but there is just always something disheartening about watching one of your favorite childhood games slowly fade from existence.

What is even more saddening is discovering that Playstation is ripping LBP3 from the Playstation store, and every, single DLC for the entire Little Big Planet franchise with it October 31st of this year. It makes sense considering the servers are shutting down, and there is probably a dwindling player base that even plays the game anymore, but that was just something I never expected to hear considering Little Big Planet was a big part of Playstation's history and popularity.

Admittedly, I haven't picked up the game in forever, but that was mostly due to the LBP2 servers shutting down a couple years back, and not wanting to buy Playstation Plus for LBP3 only. I couldn't justify it back then.

I remember always being so excited to come home from school, boot up the PS3, and hop on Little Big Planet 2. I have vivid memories of exploring all the different worlds and levels people have created, dressing up my sackboy in different outfits, and meeting new people along the way. I even played it with my parents back then, especially since it was my mom that got me into the game to begin with. Honestly, she's gotten me into a lot of cool games.

(She so cool (*^▽^*))

Honestly, now that I'm looking over this blog post, this is just a first world problem and there is way more important things to worry about right now... but I just wanted to reminisce about a little part of my past that is soon going to be gone. I'll always have good memories of the game, and I genuinely think it's helped me become more creative and imaginative, but it's childish to think all things will last forever and ever.

R.I.P. Little Big Planet. You were great, amazing even, and you'll be dearly missed.

(At least I can still play the Story Mode from all the games. That has always been pretty fun. It's just sad all those levels and creations made by everyone online will be gone forever.)
