Dude I love horror movies nd watched so many that I go desensitized to em, the movie that finally managed to make me jump is caveat. Not cus of the jumpscares, there are barely any. It genuinely is just amazing. Theres another movie from the same director coming this year which im very hyped for.
I quite niche horror game I adore is at dead of night. Not to spoil too much, just imagine 'the Shining the video game' its basically that. And it's point and click but still one of the scariest games I've played to this day.
I am not sure the niche of horror you're interested in or how knowledgeable you are already in the genre, so I will throw out a few and you can look into them.
If you're a horror noob, check out some of the classics like Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Psycho, the Shining, Sleepaway Camp. Personally, Misery is one of my favorite Stephen King inspired films. Honestly, I really liked his new film the Long Walk. It's a bit slow but worth the investment if you like the parallels to the Vietnam War.
If you want body horror I think Rosemary's Baby is great and a classic, if you want something more modern and fun you can check out Tusk which actually features Justin Long. He's great.
One of my favorite horror movies is Possession- that's always a great watch!
You could also check out Edge of the Axe, the original My Bloody Valentine film, or pointless violence films like Angst and Funny Games.
A realistic horror film is Come and See- a war movie.
