i won an " emo contest " some days ago

storytime !!! XD

here in brazil the emo subculture is almost dead, most emo people don't dress up anymore ( because they r like ... 20+ or 30+ years old who have a job ) so it's pretty rare to see someone who's " proudly emo ", they usually just feel nostalgic for the music

i still dress up and i think i am the only one in the entire city who still uses the hairstyle ??

so anyway, a bar here in my city ( aka what we call a " boteco " ) hosted a emo show and made a contest, where the one who looked more emo would win a prize ( didn't even reaveled what the prize was XD )

i did not wanted to enter this contest, but my best friend was here ( she lives really far away ) and we wanted to go out dressing up, so we went there looking pretty emo

so ..... basically they SELECTED the people that would participate ( and the judge was the singer of the band who played there )

I WAS THE FIRST ONE THAT GUY SELECTED, he just pointed at me and yelled " you !! come over here " and i was like HUH ? i mean yeah i was the " most emo looking " one there, it makes sense that he would choose me, but i really didn't wanted to DX

my boyfriend and best friend were like " omg you're gonna win, go there !!!! " so i walked to the stage, feeling really nervous ><

after that, he choose like 5 or 6 other emos, most of them didn't even " looked emo " at all, they were just wearing alt outfits or had colorful hair :P but anyway

the judge started pointing at us and asking our names, after that he said like " scream/clap/cheer if you think __ should win the prize !!! "

unfortunately, my best friend didn't won :( me, a girl and a guy who looked like gerard way became the top 3 competitors, i was pretty anxious because i did think i could possibly win but i wasn't feeling confident

then the girl got eliminated and people were really cheering for the gerard way cosplay but uhh to my surprise, some guy in the crowd started screaming my name ??? XOX

so even before the judge asked the crowd, a looot of people started screaming " SOFIA !! SOFIA !! SOFIA !! " the judge smiled and then yeah i actually won the prize :o

I was surprised, my boyfriend and my best friend came to congratulated me, and the guy who started all the screaming also came and said " your outfit was the best, i knew you would win ! " oh he was so sweet DX i thanked him and then went to get my prize

which was ... R$50 in beer ( " chopp " or draft beers ) AND i won a R$100 prize in an alt outfit store !!! i was really happy :)

after that, we chatted with the singer who told us he really liked that we singed a lot of the songs, he felt happy that the emo scene is still alive and we really had a great time :D

( he also made me sing the chorus of MCR, NXZero and Restart songs during the show !! :>

days later i messaged the judge so i could win my R$100 prize and he told me " you know i kinda cheated for you to win right ... because you clearly looked the best. haha thank you for coming :)" i was like OMG ???? BRO

anyway this was a really funny event in my life, now i tell everyone that i'm the top 1 emo from my city lmaooo

tho as an autistic person, i still feel kinda anxious by the " i do NOT want to be perceived " feeling ... i never thought people would scream my name ...... T_T' omg

also ... i don't even know what i will do with the R$50 prize, because my boyfriend don't like drinking alcohol and i'm not a big fan of beer + the bar is pretty far away from my house but yeah, if they host another alt event i may come back and get some beer XD
