the romanticization of autism

okay so before i start, im autistic and i was diagnosed at 13. i feel like a lot of teens are romanticizing being autistic like "omg look at me im such a cutesy little autistic person who loves mlp and im soooo fluttershy coded" when theyre literally a terrible person and make fun of people who present with more "obvious" autistic qualities. like dont get me wrong i LOVE mlp, but being autistic literally effects my daily life. i have to blast music in my ears if its a work day in class and people are typing because i cant stand the sound of other people typing. the sound of breathing too loud and chewing hurts my ears, people fidgeting or bouncing their legs hurt my eyes, i have a VERY limited pallet when it comes to food and its lead to me being obese. having autism is NOT some cutesy little thing that you can just look at a fucking tiktok video and be "omg im autistic because i hate the feeling of tight clothes teehee"
