Hi everyone,
I thought to myself today: "Wow, I actually do kinda like studying!" The issue is I absolutely SUCK at studying for my exams (I'm writing my finals in like 6 weeks), but I have no trouble with studying something for myself, and that's when it kinda hit me
I feel most people are discouraged to learn or study mostly because of education - school, rather than teaching them how to be curious or how to actually learn something, discouraged them from expanding their horizons and now they don't do it as much, if at all. That's why so many are actually discouraged to try and learn something new, because it feels like a chore rather than a fun experience that might pay off in the future. And honestly? I totally get it. Learning something new but only for myself feels much more satisfying than studying for school, most likely because it feels much more rewarding. You feel this element of growth and self-satisfaction because you achieved something not because someone asked you to, but because you wanted to do it yourself, and you succeeded.
With me, I somehow successfully was able to fight it, leading me to now be actually studying two (!) languages, learning how to play the guitar, and some rather nerdy stuff I might get into someday later. I'm not saying this to brag - I'm saying this to say that learning new things does not need to be boring or uninteresting. With the right attitude, you really can achieve a lot, and it is good to realize that. The opportunities will be here, no matter if you will learn yourself or with others. All that matters is your own determination to try and achieve something new.
Maybe this isn't one of the most brilliant things that has been written, but it's just something that got stuck in my head this evening, and I just wanted to share it here, out of spite
See you in the next one
