The Internet And Always Trying To Take The "Morally High Ground"

akitoya

why is everyone so desperate to be "morally correct"?

i dont really understand why people always have to seem morally correct or morally superior. i dont really care about being seen as having the "correct" morals. morality is subjective. no one has the same morals, stop trying to push yours onto others.

DISCLAIMER:
this is not meant to cause arguments. as always, you are allowed to state your own opinion or take but if i find it to be disrespectful to me or my blog, or presents itself in an argumentive tone, i will delete your comment. if you say something that is hilariously stupid i will also pin your comment and laugh at you, not with you. english is not my first language as well, i may not make sense at some times.

okay! now that you've read all that, let's get into the good stuff.

Part 1

i see so many people being a lil bitch over everything. you can say a very correct statement, and some mf will come up and talk about some "well what about [something that is unrelated to the topic of the post]?"

i will not state the name of the commenter because im not trying to dogpile or shame them and i also forgot their name, but i have a great example of what i mean. i forget exactly what they said, but it was under my blog post about child safety.

it was something along the lines of how "a lot of children on this website post about their mental problems to cope, so ur kind like bullying them or something," but... they kind of completely disregarded the point of my blog. in the blog, i never stated they werent allowed to post about their problems completely... i just said they shouldnt do it publicly because its insanely easy bait for predators who prey on vulnerable teenagers.

i guess it also just shows how illiterate people are nowadays... hardly skim over a blog before jumping to outrageous conclusions.

this isnt an isolated incident either, i see it a lot.

another great example of this is what happened to alfie... if you dont know who that is, he is one of the notorious gore posters on this website. i do not remember when it happened, but someone doxed him... he is 14?! exposing a 14 year old's private information to the internet is not justifiable, no matter what they did.

Part 2

i also tend to see people always pulling up unrelated points in arguments to seem like the better person. i dont really care about how i said this this and this which is "problematic", what i care about is how you doxed me multiple times lol.

that was a hypothetical, it didnt happen... hopefully? id be kind of terrified if i was doxed over something stupid i said.

"moral" [haha, pun intended] of the story, stop trying to always take the morally high ground, especially when its about something completely unrelated to the point of the original post/argument.

everyone has different priorities and morals than you and that is okay!

Yes!! I do think discussions about morals are a good thing to have with other people. But it should be a DISCUSSION. Not a "well these are my morals and I'm better than you". Like you said everyone has their own morals and priorities, and sometimes your morals and priorities will clash with someone else's, and that's okay!! you don't have to interact with those people if you don't want to! There's a lot of peoples morals that I don't agree with, and while I can have a discussion about it and try to see their point of view and try to get them to see my point of view, at the end of the day there's a very low chance of that changing anything.

"Morality" is always contextual, there is nothing one can judge on it‘s own.

As for why do people take the "morally superior stance," my guess would be to /keep their image/ in a way. In today‘s day and age our internet footprint and how other view us makes a huge difference in people‘s lives. We somehow managed to be unimaginably rude yet overly cautious and sensitive all at once. It‘s really sad :(

XOXO, Rebeka

everyone grows up on this idea that there is a "right" and "wrong" and jumping out of those beliefs, admitting that the world is more than black and white is so foreign to people that they really do prefer fighting over nonsense they dont even believe
