I’ll be real here before I dive into the ramble, I just want to say that I’ve been a longtime Pappo viewer. I first found his channel through his A Bite At Freddy’s video and stuck with him ever since. But over time, I started noticing that his style and overall tone began to change, and honestly, he’s been going downhill from there. Also, sorry if there are mistakes this is my first ever ramble outside of Bluesky, so bear with me! -Nameless
(Side note: I won’t be covering games like Doom By Fate or Pillar Chase 2/PC2 since I’m not familiar with them. Same goes for the YvsH/You Vs Homer section I just don’t feel like covering it. Anyway, enough talk, let’s get right into it! :D)
The Forsaken Section
From the start of the video, I could already tell this was going to be like the infamous “trans music video” all over again. If you didn’t know, in that video he basically concluded that trans people are “violent and angry people who only want to be accepted into the world,” while constantly hiding behind the “IN MY OPINION” card. The same thing happens here he makes it clear he has zero idea what he’s talking about or doing in these games, while throwing in weird remarks.
For example, in the Forsaken section, he goes on an unrelated rant about how it’s “weird” that Shedletsky is a playable character. He even shows fan art of Shed’s avatar drawn a little overweight while eating fried chicken without crediting the artist. That’s just careless. Shedletsky himself doesn’t mind people or developers adding his avatar into games, and most appearances of his avatar (or Telamon alias) are based on the persona he built during his time at Roblox. Forsaken isn’t even the first game to feature him.
On top of that, Pappo uses the lazy logic of judging a game purely by its community. Sure, the Forsaken community can be… a lot, but that doesn’t excuse failing to understand how the game itself works.
Once he finally gets back to talking about the game, it’s clear he still has no idea what he’s doing. He claims the generator “does nothing,” yet in the same clip the timer goes down right after he finishes doing it. He doesn’t understand how the characters work, and in the Die of Death section, things get even worse.
The Die of Death (DoD) Section
He calls the game a “nothing burger with no objectives,” completely ignoring that helping your team survive against the killer is an objective. In the clips, he just emotes in the corner and only moves when the killer gets close. He doesn’t mention the special rounds, and instead keeps bringing up Dandy’s World a roguelike while comparing it to an asymmetrical game. That’s a ridiculous comparison.
He also criticizes DoD for using the old Roblox style, yet praises Break In And Steal Thingz (BIAST) for the same aesthetic. His reasoning? BIAST defaults to a 4:3 aspect ratio and has emotes, which every Roblox asym game has anyway. He even claims DoD “copied” BIAST, despite DoD being released first.
The Pwned By 14:00 Section
This part really grinds my gears. He doesn’t even try to enjoy the game for what it is. Instead, he dismisses it as “retroslop,” which is absurd. Pwned is one of the few Roblox asym games that actually captures the old Roblox style well. Half the cast comes from Roblox ARGs, webseries, or classic horror games, but he brushes all that aside just to yell “retroslop” and stroke his ego.
Even worse, he admits he only included Pwned in the video so his content would show up in search results for the game. That’s just scummy since he didnt even bother to talk about the smaller things the game has like a fully voiced Yorick and Noli, a special last robloxian standing banner based on the killer and last survivor remaining (this also changes based on skin combos or what skin the killer is using too) along with the other smaller things that makes pwned stand out in the roblox asym genre but he poorly boils it down as "A retroslop asym game with jumping in it".
Final Thoughts
To close this blog, I want to say that Pappo is a modern example of the old saying: “an angel fallen from grace.” In his older videos, you could tell he was genuinely having fun. Now, it feels like he’s only making content for a quick buck.
That’s not to say all his recent videos are bad I enjoyed his coverage of Chinelin’s SONIC and Green Mountain. But lately, he hides his lack of research, inflated ego, and outright hate speech behind the “well, it’s MY OPINION” card far too often.
As of writing this, he “plans” to remake the video but put it on hold because he wants to “make videos he actually enjoys.” Meanwhile, his fans defend him no matter how awful or hateful his takes are.
