I was listening to a playlist full of disco essentials with my dad today and it made me realize how much I love it. I knew most of the songs since it was the some of the music my parents played when I was growing up. Today I felt a greater appreciation for it. I love dancing to good music; as each song was playing I was just absolutely grooving to it. It just makes me wish more modern music was like that. Maybe there are artist out their who are putting out music like that now and I am just missing out on it.
It also made me realize how much I want to learn to dj. I feel that I have a really great understanding of music since I have taken some music theory classes and I have worked on remix projects before. I also love sharing the music I listen to with other people. The only thing is I hyper-focus on hobbies just to forget about them weeks later. I can imagine myself djing at clubs and stuff. I feel that it would be super fun. I think once I am done with my classes this semester and I am on summer break I will look into it. My friends have encouraged me to try it out and I know I really want to.

There's absolutely still people out there that make Disco! Everyone thinks that it died after the 70s but really it just evolved into the house genre. Nudisco sought to bring it back entirely.
If I may recommend artists, def Purple Disco Machine. These days he mostly does 80s sounding music but go back just a few years and he's got some pretty relevant singles.. though he also does remixes of classic disco songs that sound really good. I'm also gonna throw in Yung Bae too, as some of his older tracks def fit this criteria. Bae teters the line of Future Funk on some songs and is pretty big on sampling soul tracks as well - so some may sound familiar if you've heard the originals but he adds a refreshing twist on everything. I know of some good house artists too but that's kinda straying away a bit. My main point: I think Nudisco, Future Funk and sooooome House might be good genres to check if you're interested.
thank you for the recommendation!! i'll definitely look into them :)
