people who dont blog - why?

after nearly a week on this website ive discovered a confusing but frequent phenomena - poeple who are on this website, have a complex theme, hundreds of stamps, neat aesthetic, tons of friends, but havent written a single blog entry.

why?

sure, it might be confusing to me bc im someone who's primary social media is a blogging website, but uh.. isnt that the whole point of this? this is the old style of social media. stone age of the internet so to speak. you have a profile (decorated thoroughly through unholy deeds against code), a big about me section with things like movies and books, and write blog entries about your thoughts our day. that's how it used to be right?

so why do poeple refuse to? they submit to this whole nostalgia aesthetic of roleplaying as old internet users in their layouts or even manner of speech, but refuse to use its main way of functioning.

picking up a cigar and a thoughtful pose right now, and throwing away the thought that poeple use this site for a week before disappearing, maybe its bc of the way that the current social media landscape has taught them to use it - basic information, decorate, and thats it. something akin to pinterest, tiktok, or twitter.

and what baffles me the most, and honestly why im writing it in the first place, is these poeple try to friend me. im not sure if here it functions like other social platforms' following, but to be its frankly strange.

moving aside the fact that i have "dont friend me if we havent shared a word" in my profile for a second, its just.. baffling! i dont know what else to say about it! you have this entire decorated profile, detailed descriptions about you and your interests, but for some reason you refuse to express it, and dressed in this entire charade like a mating bird you send me a request and expect me to be impressed by all of this and wordlessly accept it? what the hell!

i dont know! may be an invitation to talking and i might be too judgemental! but honestly i prefer to start friendships without this prior expectation of "we will be friends" that adding before talking gives me.

anyway, if you actually want me to add you, i dont know.. read my blog posts? comment? start up a conversation? im a sort of prey animal when it comes to social things so you gotta be careful. also id love to hear to how you use this website and function here without blogging. maybe you make forum posts, but theyre unaccessible in your profile theme. who knows!

and for those who also find this as an issue, uh, do comment also! how does this make you feel? do you also blog and find it strange to see poeple like this here? do you have some sort of requirements for poeple adding you akin to this or something different?

BLEH! BEFORE I WRITE TOO MUCH AND PROCRASTINATE! signing off

P.S. i guess my whole point of all of this is that a lot of social media platforms these days have sort of conditioned poeple to not talk between themselves. i love discussion! i really love talking with poeple! i love comments!

so please for the love of god COMMENT COMMENT COMMENT!!! (not only on this, i mean over all, but is appreciated ;))

it could be a multitude of reasons

however the example you give kind of reminds me of this weird little phenomenon i see online; most people who mod their nintendo ds/3ds, they decorate the outside with stickers and drawings and get all these games they find interesting and then? they end up not playing. alteast thats alot of what i see.

i think its because alot of this generation, while yes we grew up with cd's and such, alot of us now are so used to content being held behind monthly or yearly paywalls and ads that come with those paywalls as well depending on what kinda services you use. and with the freedom of modding you end up getting so much of what you want, that for some people, they simply dont engage with it anymore because the whole excitement of waiting for a game to come out or be bought eventually just isnt there.

now to bring that into the spacehey stuff i think its people just being so used to short form content and every other short or reel or tiktok being an advertisement and just looking at these like brief memes or something i think that, theyre so used to that stuff and the only thing they can customize being basic profile fill in the blanks that once they get a taste of true personalization and customization within something like spacehey coding for your profile and blogs, that they get so genuinely and utterly into the fact that they can finally express themselves without the restrictions of an app that was over run with toxicity and they get to like. really experience something different for once.

and then once their page is coded, they just dont know what to do. there isnt any algorithm that pushes blogs and forums and groups toward you, there isnt any friend suggestions, or seemingly endless short form videos for you to instantly watch, no. everything is so personal including the 'algorithm'- which is just yourself. and these types of people, they get bored or understimulated or just uninterested in something like that. so they leave this website be and go back to whatever platform they were originally on.

atleast thats what i think goes on. again there could be a multitude of reasons yknow? maybe they forget about this website. maybe theyre just uninterested and dont wanna put in the effort or like they just simply dont want to engage in the platform and simply use it to decorate a profile and or use the diary function.

personally, i dont see anything inherently wrong with that stuff. the whole point of spacehey to me, is to have a space of your own and make friends and if the space being your own means you dont really make friends? sure. do what you want. :3 yknow?

interesting perspective! i havent thought of it that way. i agree very much with the statement wholly. my frustration come more of comes from the clashing interaction with these kinds of poeple aka the random invites.

i, personally, am very guilty of modding things then never using them. i think that's more of me enjoying the process of building over actually using. pretty much the opposite of a consumer lol

i have the beaver instinct, i guess

though, i think the majority of "heavily customized" profiles are actually just copy-paste layouts. when i made my layout, i actually had no idea about the layouts tab and i thought everyone was actually hand-coding their page

then eventually i realized they just went to the personality store ;_;

really wish more people saw this
i can get requests from people with a fully customized profile and everything but they. have not written a single thought or blog down... what am i supposed to do with this if i have no idea on who you are or what you're genuinely interested in besides what you put in the boxes... and then, i'm like ok maybe they want to talk or say something first.... nothing
i don't understand the point of just adding people and not interacting or writing anything which is why i barely have anyone added

++ pmo when people put something like 2 sentences long that can easily be a bulletin on a blog... just see it as spam

I started writing a blog about music in general. I love it and wanted to share my passion with other people. But it's so hard to break the wall when people treats blogs like bulletins. People write here maybe a sentence or two and that's just it. Because of that blogs that are actually about something just disappear in the wave of bulletins wanna be blogs. Because of that you just don't want to write anymore because what's the point of writing a public blog if no one can see that?

+2. i don't trust people who don't write blog posts or comment on other's blogs.

if anything, i think the modern web has conditioned people to feel entitled to interaction without putting in any effort

like at least 25% of the total blog posts on this site are "boreddd some1 talk 2 me" or "BMF!!" with nothing else

like yeah no shit nobody wants to talk to you. you've provided zero context on who you are, haven't even tried to be *actually* interesting, and you're probably a dry texter too so nobody is gonna message your ass

this blog post should be required reading before posting on this site

yeeep yep yep!

also i read what you linked. "alot of tourists come here from tiktok, pinterest, etc" really good quote. you can really tell if someone came from er.. metropolis sites on here. also calling off-site poeple is really funny
