Parasocial Alysa Liu fans

Recently was the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and the American figure skater, Alysa Liu has become very popular.She won the Olympic medal in both team event and single event and her Gala performance has been getting a lot of praise.So basically she’s has gotten really popular since the Winter Olympics.Just a quick disclaimer this is not at all hate to Alysa Liu,as someone who keeps up with figure skating events I think she is very talented.

Although some of her fans are really weird,saying inappropriate things about her,pointing out every single small step she does and are just acting extremely parasocial. Like I hate to break it to you but she is not *insert sexuality* even if she is, it’s none of your business I fear. Some people go as far to put other skaters down just to praise her, it’s completely fine to like a skater more than another skater but you have to be respectful no matter what.

There’s also the fans who are saying “ugh I knew Alysa Liu and figure skating before all these new gens” Like figure skating and skaters is not the niche little interest you thought it was. It’s quite the opposite if you have common sense. Stop saying “we didn’t gatekeep figure skating hard enough” figure skating has been popular since way back. 

In conclusion some of you fans need to stop because at the end of the day Alysa Liu is not your friend but just a stranger who probably doesn’t know you exist.
