I'm 36 years old! The last time I was on Myspace was probably about fifteen years ago and since then I have gotten much better looking. But this blog isn't about good looks, it's about the demise of capitalism.
I'm a junior in college right now and I'm going for the third time. I'm better than ever at being in school and I'm definitely not going to drop out again! However, my rent just wen up 60% and when I asked my employer for a raise, he laid me off! I'm doing everything I can to hustle side gigs because there are absolutely zero local hourly employers that will compensate me enough to keep a roof over my and my child's heads.
I don't think I'm alone in having been personally affected by the weaknesses in capitalism. As the nation lurches in the throws of a deadly virus that our economy has failed to mitigate, as racism and corruption cripple our every political institution, as climate disaster begins to destroy lives and the masses argue over what the truth is, capitalism has proven to be an invalid and ineffective way of life.
It is evident that the revolution will not be televised and social media companies like Facebook and Tiktok are not going to help facilitate revolutionary change. Perhaps an app like Spacehey will offer a place for cool people who are sick of all the bullshit to go and coordinate some revolutionary behavior amongst themselves. When Myspace was in its hay day, we were coordinating #OWS meetings and planning to overthrow the system. Something happened along the way and we lost sight of the goal. There is no appeasement with capitalism; either we value humanity and life over all else or we don't. I think it would be pretty dope if we did.
Love,
Danger
