REWATCHING Pluribus - Analysis

I'm finally rewatching Pluribus, and I'll be doing mostly an episode-by-episode analysis!!! These are pretty unorganized thoughts fair warning

I already have another blog talking about this show if you'd like to check it out!: Pluribus and AI

EPISODE 1: We Is Us

- all of Vince Gilligan's shows are pro-Albuquerque tourism propaganda

- I've already gone into before the fact that Pluribus is a direct response to the AI takeover, and it really just hit me that Carol is a writer- a job directly competing with AI. Which is just crazy significant, contrasting an artistic job to an inhuman hive mind- like there is no way that wasn't intentional...

- I HATE THE HIVEMIND'S STUPID CORPORATE SOULLESS TONE IT MAKES ME WANT TO SCRATCH MY EYES OUT- (especially the way they are so insensitive about Helen's death)

- Something especially haunting that not even the HIVE MIND knows where it comes from or what it is?? It truly is only based in human knowledge?? Which itself couldn't understand what the virus was??

- "We will figure out what makes you different" "Why?" "So we can fix it! So you can join us!" OMG like... Do you think that just directly reminded Carol of all the conversion camps she experienced?

- The hive mind gains information with each person it claims, so its sort of significant that the first person it gained was a scientific researcher (or generally someone who is educated in biology working in a lab), because imagine the different outcome if it had been someone else?? Would it had spread as fast??

- Carol not being able to drive away because she's been drinking, and then its revealed that Helen knew she had a drinking problem (later on) like god that shit would haunt her

EPISODE 2: Pirate Lady

- yes... evil toxic yuri.... yes...

- [Zosia is introduced] What really tends to get me about this show is showing how whole cultures are completely disregarded, which will get more obvious is Kusimayu's transformation into the hivemind (side note: one of my most favorite scenes from this show)

- Yes the hivemind is technically a utopia; no war, no money, no negativity (or any other pitfalls of society), but it lacks creativity, originality, or humanity (MUCH LIKE AI BUT AGAIN I'VE ALREADY RANTED ABOUT THIS BEFORE). Pluribus scares me because all of the agents of the hive mind ACT human and ACT like they care but they truly lack everything that makes them relatable to Carol. Like any time they aren't around Carol, they don't even make eye contact with one another, they don't smile, they just stand/walk/work mindlessly.

- ok I want to hate the hive mind but sometimes Zosia just makes me feel so fluttery and whismical... wowie beautiful hivemind lady don't mind if I do... (they would've manipulated my ass on day 1)

- "Yesterday was the greatest day in the history of humanity" more like the complete eradication of humanity- honestly even calling it the greatest day in humanity is somewhat correct. It IS the most significant event in human history because it is the complete END of human history.

- Its so important that Samba brings up how racism, war, and human suffering has been eradicated; genuinely an aspect Carol never considered since shes a privileged, wealthy white woman from America- I just in general LOVE his character because yes he's on the side of the hivemind but he's the only one going out of his way to comfort Carol

- Carol is lowkey me bc I be constantly harshing the vibes

- Creeps me out how all the hivemind acting like family members are essentially blending in during dinner and still pretending to be the people the used to be l
