them Booms & them Bangs

—— I am sandwiched between the war of US-Israel and Iran.

Yesterday morning, I rose up to the sound of sirens, and my mother instructing me to pack extra clothes and important files in a bag "just in case". My phone was filled to the brim about news of the war that erupted.

It was so quiet just the day before.

My country has not been hit as gravely as other countries have yet — and I am nowhere situated in an area in which a potential target would be nearby.

I feel that I would be okay.

—— An hour ago, an explosion that shook various buildings pierced my ears. — It was revealed to be just 3 blocks away.

My chest felt heavy.

I've never heard an explosion that loud. Or that near.

Additionally, I heard two consecutive thuds a few minutes before the bang. I narrowed it down to being the upstairs neighbor — It turned out to probably be intercepted drones.

What the fuck!

—— Everyone else I have connections to has heard the huge explosion too. Legitimately insane how it was heard over various governorates,,.

Sometimes, the wailing sirens feel so much more terrifying than the drones itself flying over the pitch black sky — I find that I tend to fear the 'build-up' so much more than the climax.

I rushed to the windows. People were yelling, running, crowds were forming, and police cars and ambulances were bolting out.

My chest felt heavier.

—— Everything seems to have calmed down now. It is silent, yet I'm still hearing sirens in my head.

It is 3 in the morning, guys.

All this, and yet people still have to see to their jobs.

There are missiles flying over our heads.

There is danger at our every step.

.

This really isn't needed.

I can't sleep.   ,,,,Who can in this situation??

Hope everyone is safe and sheltered.

Hope this all blows over before I get blown up instead.
