Horse Forever

This is probably my third blog in relation to being a "cringe" animal girl. I would be lying if I didn't think it was fun to talk about, though.

Out of all of my animal girl phases, I don't think I ever got to tap into the popular horse girl section. Most of that horse girl part of me was dedicated to being into My Little Pony and playing animated flash games. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron would've been a movie I went crazy over in a similar vein to The Lion King and Alpha and Omega, but admittedly, the most I was exposed to of it was through animash videos. I once had an entire collection of the Phantom Stallion series of books, but likely did not read a single one. I was afraid of riding horses but didn't have a problem of riding a decades-old carousel horse while listening to genuine organ music as we went around and around.

Years later, I decide to play Umamusume: Pretty Derby for the first time to see what the buzz was all about. I immediately fell in love, to put it short. Not only did it encourage me to get into healthier habits, it also helped me indulge into my inner horse girl that was left untouched for a decade.

I was collecting Bella Sara cards I had missed and found old Pony Magazine issues while scavenging. I've brushed and gained the trust of an old mare born in the 1980s at an old farm, surrounded by cows who cautiously watched us. I hardly ever get to see horses, but I long to be around them again for their majestic and comforting presence.

Often misunderstood, the horse girl has taught me to find freedom in being yourself and embrace the amazingly strong bond one can have with an animal.

I was also very crazy about it, even for the generations before Friendship is Magic! I since fell out of it when Twilight Sparkle became an alicorn, but I still love revisiting it and what not.

YESSS horse girls who were never actually around horses unite!!!

ive always been a little scared of horses just because of their power, but ive also always loved them. when i was little my grandma would always tell me that if she ever won the lottery, she would get me a nice big ranch and some horses LOL

in 1st or 2nd grade, somewhere around there, we used to do a sort of weekend journal every monday morning in class. one day i decided to write about how my family's farm burned down and all 20 horses died. that never happened. nobody in my immediate family even had horses

i had a book i bought from the local library (they had a section where you could purchase used books for a few bucks each) called "be well, beware" about a mare who got sick with colic and the main character was her owner, a young girl whose name i cant remember. she had to walk beware around the pasture like every morning and night. GAWD i loved that book so much, i cant remember hardly anything about it but i remember something about the vet coming and using a stethoscope to listen to beware's abdomen, there were no normal gut noises but when the vet tapped on her abdomen it sounded like an overinflated basketball. there were scenes i could picture so clearly that i could like, smell how crisp the air was and see what the pasture would have looked like on a frosty early morning. ugh. plus the book smelled good and it had a plastic library cover that made a crinkly sound

i had a couple mlp toys (g1 or g2? or both? one was definitely a g1 or g2 mlp but i probably had at least one copycat) from garage sales and i got a couple g3 ponies from target because i thought they were cute but i wasnt Into mlp. like i knew nothing about it. i gave my toys their own names so they were like basically any other horse toy to me only colorful. i learned to braid by messing with a mlp's hair

i got a cabbage patch horse to add to my cabbage patch kid collection when i was a kid that i ADORED i wish i still had her she was the bumble bee pinto from 2005 so i probably got her for my 11th birthday

i had a barbie race and ride for the og playstation. i played that A LAWT. i had to google the name of it and got sucked in to google images and stuff help i need to find a Longplay No Commentary

i got to go horseback riding a handful of times on different occasions. my maternal grandparents' neighbors had horses for like a few years at one point so i used to go over and spend time with the horsies ^w^ there was a pregnant mare at one point who had a sweet little foal, they were both beautifullll they were all black. the mare was kind of jumpy and nervous but i was taught how to approach her and i was allowed to pet and brush her with supervision at first and when i proved i knew what i was doing i was allowed to be with her whenever i wanted. i dont think the foal ever really approached me. idek what ever happened to those horses

^but thats the extent of my interaction with real horsies as far as i can remember orz theres lots of people with horses nearby and on my road but none i can get close to

OH and in zoo tycoon 2 i used to just close my zoo and put a bunch of wild horses and let them do whatever. and i would go into zookeeper mode to clean up and take care of them sometimes but for the most part i let it play out. i did that a lot more with wolves though lol i'd put a lot of elk and some moose and a few bears in too. some beavers. it was like a wildlife preserve to me. i have done this as recently as a couple years ago because its still fun

I love crinkly wrapping on books and the smell of older books. There's just a certain charm to them.

I remember growing up on G1 and G3, even attending a live MLP event where they had actors in costumes insisting that the audience has the world's biggest tea party with them.

I still have a couple of little horses from the LPS brand I grew up with, one I remember being from a game, though I don't know if I still have her anymore. I've also been meaning to play Zoo Tycoon, it just seems really fun. I didn't have much options when I was young when it came to gaming.

Last interactions I had with horses that I remember was greeting them while I was at a barn for a band playing there. There was this one horse with the prettiest blue eyes that I remember a teacher of mine wanting to own.
